Con due vittorie di manche e un secondo posto, Max Nagl si è mostrato in stato di grazia all’Hawkstone International MX. Mentre il tedesco conquistava la vetta delle classifiche, Max Anstie e Gautier Paulin si sono assicurati rispettivamente il secondo e il quarto posto in MX1. A completare una straordinaria giornata per il team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, Thomas Kjer-Olsen e Thomas Covington hanno concluso secondo e terzo nella classe MX2.
In questa manifestazione, che fa parte della loro preparazione per il campionato mondiale Motocross FIM 2017, i piloti del team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing si sono mescolati in Inghilterra all’élite internazionale. Tagliando il traguardo per secondo nella gara di apertura, Max Nagl ha migliorato il suo passo nelle due manche successive: la vittoria in Gara 2 ha permesso al tedesco di assicurarsi la vittoria nella classe MX1, e Nagl ha poi concluso una perfetta giornata sulla sua FC 450 vincendo anche la Superfinale combinata MX1/MX2. In quella che è stata solo la sua seconda manifestazione internazionale sulla FC 450, Max Anstie è stato uno dei più concreti pretendenti alla vittoria in tutte e tre le manche sul sabbioso tracciato inglese. All’holeshot in Gara 1, il giovane britannico ha fatto seguire una grande prestazione che lo ha portato a una netta vittoria. Dopo un nuovo holeshot in Gara 2 Anstie si è trovato a condurre la gara, prima che una caduta lo costringesse ad arretrare e tagliare il traguardo in quinta posizione. Spingendo al massimo, Anstie ha poi concluso la sua giornata con un terzo posto nella Superfinale. Anche il pilota Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Gautier Paulin ha costituito in Inghilterra una forza in campo con cui fare i conti. Lottando per risalire dopo una partenza non brillante in Gara 1, ha concluso in sesta posizione. La miglior prestazione della giornata è arrivata per Gautier in Gara 2, quando il pilota francese ha conquistato la seconda piazza dietro al compagno di squadra Nagl. L’Hawkstone International MX ha anche segnato la prima apparizione in gara per la squadra MX2 del team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing 2017. Mostrando una notevole velocità sul difficile tracciato inglese, il rookie del team Thomas Kjer-Olsen ha ottenuto nelle due manche MX2 un terzo e un secondo posto, che gli valgono il secondo posto assoluto. Sesto nella Superfinale, il giovane danese è anche stato il secondo pilota MX2 più veloce nella corsa conclusiva della giornata. Per Thomas Covington, l’Hawkstone International MX ha rappresentato una buona occasione per mettere a frutto il duro lavoro condotto durante l’inverno. Con un secondo e un sesto posto nelle due manche, il giovane americano ha concluso la giornata terzo nella classe MX2. Davanti al pubblico di casa, Conrad Mewse ha avuto una giornata di alti e bassi. Dopo l’holeshot in Gara 1, il giovane inglese ha perso tempo prezioso dopo aver fatto spegnere la moto, concludendo così undicesimo. Migliorandosi con un quinto posto in Gara 2, Conrad ha concluso la giornata con un ottavo posto assoluto nella classe MX2. I membri del Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team torneranno ora in azione il 12 febbraio, al Lacapelle Marival International MX in Francia. Sarà la loro ultima gara internazionale prima dell’inizio del Campionato del Mondo di Motocross FIM 2017, il 25 e 26 febbraio in Qatar. Max Nagl: “È stata una bella giornata. Sono partito bene in tutte e tre le manche, e sono contento di essere riuscito a guidare al mio passo. Tutto procede secondo i piani rispetto alla preparazione invernale, e tornare dall’Inghilterra con una vittoria è anche una bella iniezione di fiducia. Nel team tutti stanno dando il massimo, e continueremo a lavorare sodo per essere al 100% all’inizio del campionato MXGP, in Qatar, fra tre settimane.” Max Anstie: “L’Hawkstone International per me è una gara special, e sono content di aver mostrato di poter lottare per il vertice. In Gara 1 ho realizzato l’holeshot e poi ho guidato in solitaria fino alla vittoria. Sono partito benissimo anche in Gara 2, ma poco dopo sono caduto mentre stavo conducendo la gara. Ho dato il massimo per recuperare, riuscendo a concludere quinto. La Superfinale è andata abbastanza bene, la partenza non è stata male e ho attaccato sempre, chiudendo terzo. Abbiamo ancora un’ultima gara di preparazione la settimana prossima in Francia, e poi si parte a tutto vapore con la stagione MXGP.” Gautier Paulin: “Oggi sento di aver fatto un grande passo avanti nella giusta direzione. Dopo gli Internazionali d’Italia la scorsa settimana abbiamo passato due giorni interi a fare test sulla sabbia, e questo lavoro ha pagato. In Gara 1 sono partito male e ho lottato per arrivare sesto. La mia manche migliore è stata sicuramente Gara 2. Lì sono partito abbastanza bene e ho concluso secondo al traguardo. Claiming two race wins and a runner-up result Max Nagl was in dominant form at the Hawkstone International MX. With the German topping the overall standings, Max Anstie and Gautier Paulin secured second and fourth respectively in MX1. Completing a great day of racing for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Thomas Kjer-Olsen and Thomas Covington finished second and third in MX2.
With the event forming part of their preparations for the 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders mixed things up with the international elite in England. Crossing the line second in the opening race, Max Nagl improved his pace in the remaining two motos of the day. With his victory in race two helping the German secure the overall win in MX1 class, Nagl went on to wrap up a solid day aboard his FC 450 machine with victory in the combined MX1/MX2 Superfinal. In what was just his second international event aboard the FC 450, Max Anstie was a strong contender for the top spot in each of the three motos at the sandy British track. Getting the holeshot in the opening race the young Brit put in a strong ride to claim an emphatic victory. Following another holeshot in moto two, Anstie found himself leading the race before a crash forced him to battle hard for fifth at the chequered flag. Pushing hard for the top, Anstie concluded his day with third in the Superfinal. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Gautier Paulin was also a force to be reckoned with in England. Battling his way forward following a mediocre start in moto one the Frenchman came home in sixth place. Gautier’s best performance for the day came during moto two, with the Frenchman earning the runner-up spot behind his teammate Nagl. The Hawkstone International MX marked the first competitive outing for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s 2017 MX2 squad. Showing impressive speed at the rough British track, team rookie Thomas Kjer-Olsen earned 3/2 results in the two MX2 motos to earn second overall. Claiming sixth in the Superfinal, the young rider from Denmark was also the second fastest MX2 rider in the day’s final race. For Thomas Covington the Hawkstone International MX provided a good opportunity for the young American to capitalise on all the hard work he’s done during the off-season. Claiming second and sixth in the two motos respectively Thomas wrapped up the day with third in MX2 category. Racing in front of his home crowd Conrad Mewse had an event of mixed results. Getting the holeshot in moto one, the young Brit lost precious time after stalling his bike and eventually finished 11th. Improving to fifth in moto two, Conrad wrapped up the day with eighth overall in MX2 class. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team members will be back in action on February 12 at the Lacapelle Marival International MX in France. It will be their last international event before the start of the 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship in Qatar on February 25/26. Max Nagl: “It was a good day for us. My starts were good in all three motos and I’m happy that I could ride at my own pace. Everything is going according to plan with our pre-season preparations and to get away with the overall win in England is also a good confidence booster. Everybody in the team is giving their best and we will continue working as hard as we do hoping to be 100% for the start of the MXGP series in three weeks’ time in Qatar.” Gautier Paulin: “I feel that today we took a big step towards the right direction. Following last week’s race in Italy we spent two full days testing the bike in sandy tracks and it definitely paid off. In the opening moto I got a bad start and fought my way to sixth. My best race was during moto two. I got a decent start and raced to second at the chequered flag. Overall, it’s been a positive day for me and the team and we will continue working hard to perfect all the minor details before the start of the world championship in Qatar.” |
