Ecco a voi un intervista al nuovo compagno di Team di Strijbos nel Team Suzuki World MXGP, dopo aver preso il posto di Townley nella stagione passata, ecco che Arminas Jasikonis ci racconta i suoi programmi!

Ciao Arminas, come procede l’allenamento invernale?
Al momento va tutto secondo i piani, abbiamo un pò di lavoro da fare. Facciamo molto allenamento sia in pista che fuori…palestra, corsa ecc.
Sei una new entry nel paddock, uno dei più giovani e dei più alti (1.96 a 19 anni ndr). Raccontaci la tua storia e come sei arrivato a praticare motocross.
Si sicuramente sono il più alto nel paddock ed anche il più giovane, ma non cambia niente quando si è in pista, siamo tutti uguali lì! Come sono arrivato al motocross? Beh semplice, è stato il sogno mai realizzato di mio padre, e lo ha trasmesso a me. All’inizio era solo per divertimento , ma ogni anno la cosa è diventata sempre più seria. Crescendo tutto è diventato più dispendioso, quindi siamo arrivati ad un punto dove hai due chance : diventare professionista o smettere. Per fortuna son riuscito nel mio intento, anche se abbiamo avuto molti momenti difficili, son contento di aver avuto amici e sponsors che mi hanno aiutato in quei brutti periodi..e mi aiutano tutt’ora!
Com’è la situazione del motocross in Lituania? Ci sono buone piste dove allenarsi?
E’ molto difficile qui in Lituania, non siamo un paese ricco e ciò rende difficile praticare questo sport. Abbiamo comunque un paio di ragazzi che stanno venendo su bene, e spero davvero che ne arrivino altri! Le piste, si le abbiamo ma non sono come nel resto d’Europa..la maggior parte sono middle-pack e ciò non aiuta a migliorare sui terreni duri.
Sembra che appunto stiano arrivando alcuni buoni piloti, quest’anno vi siete qualificati nella Final A del MXON per la prima volta nella storia del vostro Paese!
Si è stata la prima volta in assoluto e penso sia stato fantastico! Avevamo un buon team e abbiamo avuto la fortuna dalla nostra parte, inoltre i miei compagni di squadra hanno fatto davvero il massimo! Ciò ci ha portato alla finale A. Ovviamente domenica è stata un pò deludente per me a causa dei miei errori ma son sicuro che miglioreremo il prossimo anno!
Qual era la tua esperienza nel Campionato Mondiale/Europeo prima di unirti a Suzuki MXGP?
Prima di arrivare in Suzuki, correvo per un Team tedesco, il Kawasaki PFEIL. Era già il secondo anno per me e stava andando bene, avevo fatto alcune buone gare per migliorare, alcuni GP e soprattutto gli ADAC MX MASTERS.
Ti aspettavi una chiamata da un Team cosi ufficiale e professionale?
E’ sempre stato un sogno, ho sempre sperato che sarebbe successo a breve, abbiamo lavorato duramente in tutti questi anni,ma ho ancora una lunga strada da percorrere per il vero successo. Comunque sono molto grato a Stefan per aver creduto in me e avermi dato questa chance!
Quanto è differente la RMZ 450 Ufficiale rispetto alle precedenti moto che hai guidato?
Quando sono arrivato per la prima volta in un tracciato sabbioso, ho pensato “wow ora sono pronto per entrare nella top10 a Lommel!”. La prima manche non è andata come speravo a causa di alcuni errori, mentre nella seconda ho dimostrato che posso farcela! Si la moto fa parecchia differenza, niente da dire…è una moto ufficiale!
Quali parti della moto ti hanno impressionato maggiormente? Motore,sospensioni,telaio..
Soprattutto il motore, ma anche altre cose. Comunque stiamo continuando a testare per la prossima stagione e continuiamo a migliorare.
Poniti un obiettivo per il 2017, riguardo la classifica finale del Mondiale. Top10?
Non voglio dire Top10, ma farò di tutto per sorprendere il mondo 🙂

Hi Arminas, how are you? What about the winter training, is everything going to plan?
Yeah at the moment I’m holding by plan, we got some serious work to do, we do pretty a lot riding and of course off the track as well (gym,running etc…).
You’re a new entry in the paddock, one of the youngest (and tallest) riders. Tell us about you story, how you came in contact with motocross for example.
Yes for sure I’m tallest out there and yeah youngest in MXGP but that changes nothing when you are on the track, you are all same there! The thing how I came to motocross is simple, dads unfulfilled dream which he gave it to me. At the beginning it was all just for fun, but by every year it came step by step more serious, as I was growing more everything was getting more expensive for my family,they we’re spending all last money for me so in the end was more like, or we end it or we go professional, we were too far gone to end it, so we were just all in and still now we are, but we came up pretty far, so far! we had some really difficult times, but I’m glad that I had friends, sponsors who helped in those bad times, even now!
How about motocross in Lithuania? Growing there, are there good tracks to practice on?
It’s really difficult there in Lithuania, it’s not a rich country, and that makes it difficult in this sport, but we have a couple guys coming up and I really hope there will come up some more kids, I really wish! The tracks we have them, but they’re not like here of course, it’s mostly middle pack there which makes a bit difficut to be good hard pack rider…
It seems that some good rider is coming from that country, this year you also qualified to Final A at the MXON, for the first time in the lithuanian history.
Yes it was first time ever and believe that was amazing! we had good setup this year and we had luck by our side, my team mates did the best they could, and that brought us to an A final! Of course sunday was a bit disappointing for me with my mistakes but I’m sure we will improve next year!
What was your experience like in the World/ Euro Championships, before joining Suzuki MXGP?
Before coming to SUZUKI, I was riding in a German team, Kawasaki Team PFEIL, I was there for the 2nd year already and it was good time, good races to grow our mx personality, this year with them we did already some GP’s and main races were ADAC MX MASTERS.
Did you expect a call from such a big and professional team?
It’s always been a dream, I always had hope that it gonna happen soon, we paid so many years with our hard work, but I still have a long way to go for a real success. But so I’m really thankful to Stefan for believing in me and giving me this chance!
How much different is the Works RMZ 450 compared to the previous bikes you’ve ridden?
When I came up in the sand track for training, I was like “WOW now I’m ready to go TOP10 in Lommel GP” 1st race some mistakes kept me away from TOP10, but 2nd moto I proved that I can do it! Yeah that bike makes some difference, nothing much to say, it’s a factory bike!
Which things of the bike have you impressed most? Engine, suspension, chassis…
Yeah engine most, but other things as well, but still for next season we are doing some testings and improving more.
Set a goal for 2017 for the final World Championship standings. Top 10?
Not gonna say TOP10, but I gonna do everything to surprise the world! 🙂.
