Parole, parole, soltanto parole……quelle che giravano su Jeffrey Herlings e ipotetico cambi di casacca, infatti dopo l’intervista dell’amico Geoff, oggi arriva la conferma che Herlings ha firmato un contratto pluriennale con la KTM!
Herlings e KTM – Ufficiale!!!
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings hanno prolungato il contratto per correre con il team ufficiale fino al 2020. Il contratto è stato concordato e firmato con il KTM Motorsports Direttore Pit Beirer ieri dopo che Herlings ha trascorso la giornata presso la società di nuova costruzione Motorsports a Munderfing, Austria.
Jeffrey Herlings, che aveva già un contratto fisso con KTM fino alla fine del 2017, ma questo ora è stato aggiornato per essere un accordo a lungo termine con il pilota olandese. Il campione del mondo MX2 due volte si sposterà fino alla classe MXGP nel 2017.
Beirer: “Siamo molto lieti di firmare con Jeffrey fino al 2020. Egli è venuto da noi in un età molto giovane e abbiamo visto lo svilupparsi in un pilota altamente qualificato su tutti i terreni. Lui è un concorrente eccezionale, ha 59 GP vinti ad una così giovane età è eccezionale. Jeffrey è una parte integrante della nostra famiglia KTM e visualizza il nostro rapporto con lui come per tutta la vita “.
Herlings: “Sono davvero felice di essere con la famiglia KTM. Sono lì dal 2009 e sono molto felice di estendere il mio contratto. Speriamo di avere un sacco di titoli di campionato e un sacco di vittorie insieme. Cercherò di vincere il più possibile e sono grato di avere questa opportunità. Si tratta di una opportunità e cercheremo di fare il meglio. Questo sarà il mio ultimo anno in MX2 e cercherò di vincere il titolo “.
Riconosciuto come un pilota di grande talento in giovane età, Herlings la prima volta a guidare per KTM come Junior factory nel 2009, dopo aver vinto i mondiali ed europei titoli 85cc all’anno precedente. Ha finito secondo assoluto nella sua prima stagione completa di MX2 nel 2011 e ha continuato a vincere il titolo di campione di livello mondiale nei due anni successivi.
Nel 2014 ha terminato secondo vicino al suo compagno di squadra Jordi Tixier dopo aver saltato una grande fetta della stagione per infortunio. Ha avuto anche problemi di infortuni nel 2015, ma si è ripreso forte nel 2016 per vincere i primi dodici round della MX2 come corrente del campionato del mondo. Ha subito una sola manche nei primi 12 round, quando finì secondo. Anche se ha saltato le ultime due gare per guarire da una clavicola fratturata, Herlings ha ancora un vantaggio di 87 punti nella caccia del titolo.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings has extended his contract to ride with the factory team through 2020. The contract was agreed and signed with KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer yesterday after Herlings spent the day at the company’s new Motorsports Building at Munderfing, Austria.
Jeffrey Herlings, who will be 22 in September, already had a fixed contract with KTM until the end of 2017, but this has now been updated to be a long-term agreement with the Dutch rider. The two-time MX2 world champion will move up to the MXGP class as of 2017.
Beirer: “We are very pleased to sign Jeffrey through to 2020. He came to us at a very young age and we have seen him develop into a highly skilled rider on all terrains. He is an outstanding competitor, and to have 59 GP wins at such a young age is exceptional. Jeffrey is an integral part of our KTM family and we view our relationship with him as one for a lifetime.”
Herlings: “I’m really happy to be with the KTM family. I’ve already been there since 2009 and I’m very happy to extend my contract. Hopefully we will have a lot of championship titles and a lot of wins together. I will try to win as much as possible and I am thankful to have this chance. It’s an opportunity and we’ll try to make the best of it. This will be my last year in MX2 and I’ll try to win the title.”
Recognized as a very talented rider at a young age, Herlings first came to ride for KTM as a Factory Junior in 2009 after winning the World and European 85cc titles the previous year. He finished overall second in his first full season of MX2 in 2011 and went on to win the class world championship title the following two years.
In 2014 he finished a close second to his factory teammate Jordi Tixier after missing a big slice of the season through injury. He also had injury problems in 2015 but bounced back strong in 2016 to win the first twelve rounds of the current MX2 World Championship. He conceded only one moto in the first 12 rounds, when he finished second. Although he has sat out the last two rounds to heal a fractured collarbone, Herlings still has an 87-point lead in the title hunt.
