Team HRC poised for Great British encounter

L’undicesimo round del Campionato MXGP avrà luogo sulle colline ondulate dell’Hampshire, nel Regno Unito, sulla pista di Matterley Basin.
E’ probabile che le gare saranno tutt’altro che serene tuttavia, con il Team HRC a pieno organico con Evgeny Bobryshev fresco del podio francese, e Gautier Paulin di ritorno e sicuro di poter mostrare il ritmo ancora una volta che lo ha visto in testa alla gara di qualificazione nella gara di casa l’ultima volta.
La pista di 1640m a fondo duro si trova in una collina della zona, e la visibilità è fantastica per i tifosi – si può vedere l’intera pista da ogni punto della sede.
Poco meno di 100 km a sud-ovest di Londra, al di fuori della città tipicamente inglese di Winchester e sul bordo del South Downs, Matterley Basin deve molto della sua bellezza per il fatto che si trova all’interno del Parco Nazionale.
Utilizzato per la prima volta nel 2006, quando ha ospitato anche il Nazioni, la sede è diventata un appuntamento fisso nel 2011. L’anno scorso Paulin ha terminato terzo in qualifica, e Bobryshev ha sfiorato il podio con due quarti posti la Domenica per un quarto posto complessivamente.

Evgeny Bobryshev: “Ho avuto alcune buone settimane dopo la Francia, con l’allenamento e una doppia vittoria al Masters olandese lo scorso fine settimana in cui tutto ha funzionato molto bene. Per tutta la stagione ho la sensazione di essere più forte nei Gran Premi, e ultimamente ho terminato alcune manche nei primi tre posti e il podio in Francia. Alcuni fine settimana ho lottato con le partenze e poi è stato difficile rimontare, ma so di avere la velocità. Sono davvero impaziente di questo fine settimana perchè mi piace la pista e mi si adatta molto bene. Mi piace venire nel Regno Unito come mi piace la pista, il luogo e le fan. Ho trascorso un anno qui nel 2010, e mi piace molto l’Inghilterra. Sono alla ricerca di una vittoria, e se si tratta di questo fine settimana il posto mi piacerà ancora di più “.

Gautier Paulin: “Mi sento di nuovo bene dopo la Francia – il mio occhio è ok e sono stato tornare in moto la scorsa settimana. Il gonfiore è andato via tutto, ma ho solo bisogno di togliere i punti ancora. E ‘stato po’ difficile allenarsi in Belgio questa settimana scorsa a causa del tempo, ma ho avuto qualche buona guida e mi sento bene. Voglio fare ammenda nel Regno Unito e essere di nuovo al ritmo che ho avuto in Francia.Penso che possiamo avere un buon risultato questo fine settimana e non vedo l’ora di tornare dietro il cancello e godermi di nuovo la mia moto.”

Roger Harvey: “Il round britannico è sempre buono, non solo perché si tratta di una gara di casa per me, per alcuni dei team e la Honda Europa, ma perché il tracciato si presta ad una grande gara ed è possibile guardare tutta la pista, perché è sulla collina. Bobby ha sfiorato il podio l’anno scorso e Gautier tornerà più forte perchè dopo la sua gara di casa che non è andata secondo i piani. E’ molto bravo sui grandi salti di Matterley che si adattano bene ad entrambi e dopo un paio di doppi podi nelle ultime due gare, sarebbe fantastico continuare quella corsa e avere tutti e tre i ragazzi, Tim incluso naturalmente, davanti. Un podio tutto Honda sarebbe veramente qualcosa di importante. “

Round eleven takes the MXGP paddock to the leafy rolling hills of Hampshire, UK, and to the Matterley Basin track.

The on-track action is likely to be anything but serene however, with Team HRC at full strength with Evgeny Bobryshev fresh from his French podium, and Gautier Paulin returning and sure to be showing the pace again that saw him leading the qualifying race on home soil last time out.

The 1640m hard pack track is nestled into the area’s hillside, so viewing is fantastic for the fans – you can see the entire track from every point of the venue.

Just under 100km South-west of London, outside the typically English city of Winchester and on the edge of the South Downs, Matterley Basin owes a lot of its beauty to the fact it sits within the National Park.

First used in 2006 when it also played host to the Nations, the venue returned as a regular fixture in 2011. Last year Paulin was third in qualifying, and Bobryshev just missed the podium with a pair of fourth place finishes on Sunday to put him fourth overall.

“I’ve had some good weeks since France, with training and a double win at the Dutch Masters last weekend where everything worked really well. All season I’ve been feeling strong at the Grands Prix, and lately had some top three moto finishes and the podium in France. Some weekends I’ve struggled with the start and then it’s difficult to come back through, but I know I have the speed. I’m really looking forward to this weekend as I like the track and it suits me very well. I like coming to the UK as I like the track, the place and the fans. I spent one year here in 2010, and I really like England. I’m searching for a win, and if it comes this weekend I’d like the place even more.”

“I’m feeling fine again after France – my eye is totally fine again and I’ve been back on the bike since last week. The swelling has all gone down, but I just need to have the stitches removed still. It’s been a bit difficult finding good training in Belgium this last week because of the weather, but still I’ve had some good riding and I’m feeling good. I want to make amends in the UK and be back at the pace I had in France. I think we can have a good result this weekend and I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the gate and enjoying my motorcycle again.”

“The British round is always a good one, not just because it’s a home race for myself, some of the team and Honda Europe, but because the track layout lends itself to some great racing which you can watch all around the lap because it’s on the hillside. Bobby just missed the podium there last year and has stood on the box in the UK before, and Gautier will come back stronger after his home race had great promise but didn’t go to plan. He’s very good on the big jumps so Matterley will suit the both of them well, and after a pair of double-podiums at the last two races, it would be fantastic to continue that run and have all three boys, Tim included of course, at the front. An all-Honda podium would really be something.”
