MXoN 2015 Podium – Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations
Un Motocross of Nations meritatissimo per la Francia quello del 2015, con Paulin, Febvre e Musquin nel Team francese. Hanno dimostrato che avevano ragione e la determinazione li ha premiati!
E se la scala di valutazione va da 0 a 10, è facile ricevere un 10 se ti chiami Romain Febvre. Sei campione del mondo, giochi in casa e hai tenuto a bada gli americani, ma il resto dei voti che regalano a “muzzo” alcuni personaggi fanno capire che le gare le guardano da uno schermo del telefonino, perché i meriti vanno un po’ a tutti, tutti ci provano e ci provano anche in condizioni non perfettamente ottimali, come Ken DeDycker o Lieber del Team Belgio, uno rientrato dopo una serie lunga di infortuni con relativa gara 1 corsa a metà senza freno anteriore e l’altro dopo un botto assurdo a Glen Helen si è schierato ugualmente, ecco perché le loro gare sono andate così!
Così come non condividiamo le varie lamentele del lunedì sui social riguardo la squadra Americana. Ragazzi, questi sono piloti e se siete stati piloti anche voi e avete nelle vene la competizione, capirete che le sconfitte sono dure da digerire, sopratutto per l’America che arrivava in terra nemica e ha provato fino all’ultimo a strappare coi denti il trofeo ad una Francia fortissima. Ci stavano anche riuscendo fino alla fine di gara 2 e allora complimenti anche a loro e ai loro sorrisi amari, mani strette sapendo consapevolmente di averci provato fino in fondo e riconoscendo la superiorità dei vincitori, ma no, la gente deve solo far vedere il lato negativo delle cose!
Noi, forse ve lo abbiamo già detto e ridetto, RINGRAZIAMO questi ragazzi per lo spettacolo che ci hanno regalato, dal primo all’ultimo, compreso per i nostri ragazzi, avete presente quell’agitazione quando siete dietro al cancelletto di partenza del vostro regionale? Ecco, dimenticatelo, perché qui la tensione raggiunge le stelle e i complimenti son dovuti!
Ecco i commenti che fanno capire, almeno in parte, quanto dura sia stata la gara e che le parole gettate all’aria dopo la gara dai fenomeni di Facebook sono sprecate!

TEAM FRANCIA
Romain Febvre
“E ‘stato un anno incredibile per me e non potevo aspettarmi niente di più di questo. In primo luogo vincere qualche GP, per poi ottenere il titolo con due gare dalla fine è stato incredibile. Venire qui con un sacco di pressione da parte della pubblico è stato qualcosa di speciale, qualcosa che non ho mai provato prima. Sono veramente gasato che abbiamo vinto di nuovo. Nella seconda manche Cooper ed io eravamo un po’ più veloci di tutti gli altri e abbiamo una avuto una bella battaglia. Per me la terza gara è stata un pò più difficile, con Ben Townley, perché stava guidando veramente bene. Ho cercato di scappare, ma lui era sempre attaccato alla mia ruota posteriore. Sono davvero contento per questa vittoria.”
Marvin Musquin: “L’obiettivo per il fine settimana è stato, ovviamente, vincere la classe 250, e stare davanti a Jeremy Martin, perché è stato il mio principale concorrente negli Stati Uniti. Le qualifiche sono andate bene. Ho ottenuto l’holeshot e c’è stata una bella battaglia. Jeremy era dietro di me ed è stato bello ottenere la vittoria con i miei compagni di squadra. E ‘stata una giornata perfetta. Ero molto emozionato ma ho cercato di ricordare che era solo una qualifica. In realtà c’era un sacco di pressione perché volevo davvero fare bene. Non ho fatto una buona partenza in una delle mie manche e non ero troppo felice di questo. Ma con la mia 250 su questo tipo di pista sapevo di essere capace di fare qualcosa di buono. La pista era davvero tecnica, era molto rovinata e piena di solchi e così risultava lenta in alcune zone, ma con il 250 sono stato in grado di lottare con i 450. Essere in grado di tornare all’attacco e passare Barcia è stato semplicemente incredibile! Ero troppo eccitato e ho iniziato a fare qualche errore. Purtroppo sono andato giù (nella prima gara), ma poi sono arrivato quarto, quindi abbastanza bene. Volevo davvero fare bene questo fine settimana. Essere scelto per il team francese dopo essere scomparso da due anni, non volevo deludere nessuno, anche per la mia ultima gara con la 250.”
Gautier Paulin: ” L’obbiettivo di oggi era combattere per cercare di mantenere il nostro titolo contro tutti i migliori paesi e i loro migliori piloti. Difendere il titolo qui in Francia davanti a tutti i tifosi di casa è stato incredibile. Ci raggiungeva il calore della folla e il tifo è stato incredibile come la sensazione che ci davano i fans quando passavamo nel paddock. Voglio assolutamente ringraziare i miei compagni di squadra per il loro grande lavoro, la squadra e la federazione francese che ha fatto un lavoro fantastico per darci il miglior materiale per questo evento. La cosa più difficile dopo aver vinto l’anno scorso era di riconfermarsi campioni ancora qui davanti al pubblico di casa e in casa nostra, quindi non ho parole per descrivere la sensazione di questa vittoria. ”
TEAM USA
Justin Barcia: “Oggi è stato il mio tipo preferito di gara. Ero aggressivo e pulito e mi è piaciuto corre così con Marvin perché è una gran persona. E’ stato un fine settimana impegnativo. Vengo sempre a questa gara per dare il 100% di cuore e non mollare mai . Siamo arrivati un po’ corti sui ragazzi di casa e la Francia non ha mai mollato. Ho avuto una brutta partenza saltando fuori dal cancello nell’ultima manche e forse le cose sarebbero state un po’ diverse con un inizio di gara migliore. Mi sarebbe piaciuto essere in corsa con Romain là davanti a tutti. Li ho presi verso la fine, ma il tempo era esaurito. La pista era molto divertente, anche se mi ci è voluto del tempo per capire bene le zone ed essere velocissimo attraverso il weekend. Anche la trazione è stata impegnativa. Tutto sommato mi sento davvero orgoglioso di tutta la squadra. Avrei voluto vincere ma abbiamo fatto del nostro meglio. ”
Jeremy Martin: “Oggi è stata una buona giornata e sono orgoglioso di come Cooper e Justin hanno guidato. La squadra ha dato il massimo. La Francia era davvero veloce quest’anno. Quando ho ripreso Marvin dopo essere caduto nella prima manche mi ha ricordato di quando eravamo in gara negli Stati Uniti, ma era su un altro livello questo fine settimana. Il Motocross delle Nazioni è unico nel suo genere. E’ qualcosa di cui si desidera far parte parte come corridore. Non ho mai sentito tifosi così pazzi. Quando eri attaccato da un pilota francese lo sapevi e viceversa! Non ho mai sentito così tante motoseghe in tutta la mia vita.”
Cooper Webb: “Sembrava che io e Romain avessimo continuato a gareggiare da Glen Helen. Volevo avere un inizio migliore e sapevo che sarebbe arrivato! E ‘stato divertente essere in grado di correre con questi ragazzi ed è stata un’esperienza del tutto nuova, non avendo davvero mai guidato in gara il 450 e arrivando al Nazioni per la prima volta è stato speciale. E’ stato un grande onore e i nervi erano tesi. E’ stato tutto bello. Abbiamo fatto del nostro meglio e siamo stati sempre in lotta. Mi sento come se avessi imparato un bel po’ . Non abbiamo nulla del genere, folla e atmosfera. Ho pensato a Glen Helen, Monster Energy CUP, la settimana scorsa USGP, i tifosi erano ottimi lì, ma questo era un livello completamente nuovo. Sapevo quando Romain mi stava raggiungendo dal tifo della folla! E’ stato estremo e si doveva mantenere la calma e spingere in ogni parte della pista era difficile, tutti erano così veloci. Sapevo che dovevamo fare un sacco di mosse in questa ultima manche e passare un sacco di ragazzi davanti. Purtroppo ho fatto spegnere la moto, mettendo un po’ in difficoltà la squadra, ma è per questo che gareggiamo… per la sfida ”
TEAM BELGIO
Ken de Dycker: “Ieri (Sabato) ho iniziato veramente bene con la pole position, ma ho avuto qualche problema con le braccia dure. Poi oggi nella prima manche ho avuto una brutta caduta e alla fine ho rotto il freno anteriore, quindi è stato abbastanza difficile continuare così. E ‘andata abbastanza bene all’inizio della seconda gara, ma poi è tornato di nuovo il problema alla braccia ed è un po’ difficile guidare in quel modo.”
Julien Lieber: “Il weekend è iniziato male con una brutta caduta in discesa quando ho provato a fare il triplo. Ho perso la moto in aria. Ho guidato tutto il fine settimana con il dolore in entrambi i lati dell’ anca ed è stato difficile guidare su questa pista dura e tutti i crateri che si sono formati. Ogni volta che mettevo la mia gamba a terra mi faceva male. E’ stato difficile. Nella prima gara ero undicesimo e non potevo guidare al mio livello. Nella seconda gara ho piegato il disco anteriore e la ruota si fermava in aria quindi mi sono dovuto fermare. E’ stato un brutto weekend, ma almeno abbiamo fatto di nuovo podio. Sono contento della stagione che sia finita e ora posso fare una operazione che era in attesa da tempo e tornare in buona salute per la prossima stagione. ”
Jeremy van Horebeek: “E’ stato un weekend difficile sia per Ken che per Julien. Hanno faticato un po’ con le cadute, quindi è stato difficile. Nella prima manche ho fatto abbastanza bene, ero in terza posizione poi Marvin (Musquin) mi ha passato; stavo guidando un po’ rigido ma tutto sommato non troppo male. La seconda partenza della manche è stata un vero disastro, ero in 27° posizione o qualcosa del genere e mi sono detto: “devi fare qualche cosa subito e spingere al massimo”. Dopo pochi giri ero in sesta posizione, ho battagliato con Justin e Cooper poi mi è stato mostrato sul Pitboard dai box che eravamo al terzo posto e ho pensato: ‘perché correre dei rischi?’. Sono entusiasta di essere di nuovo sul podio. Sono felice che una stagione così difficile sia finita. Noi ci ri ragruppiamo per l’anno prossimo per fare una stagione migliore, spero. ”

TEAM FRANCE
Romain Febvre: “It has been an amazing year for me and I cannot expect anything more than this. Firstly to win some GPs, then to get the title with two rounds to go was unbelievable. To come here with a lot of pressure from the crowd was something special and I have never had it before. I’m really pumped that we won again. In the second moto Cooper and I were just a bit faster than everyone else and had a nice battle. For me the third race was a little more difficult with Ben Townley because he was riding really good. I tried to get away but he was sticking to my rear wheel. I’m really happy that we won.”
Marvin Musquin: “The goal for the weekend was obviously to win the 250 class, and to get in front of Jeremy Martin because he was my main competitor in the USA. Qualifying went good. I got the holeshot and it was a good battle. Jeremy was behind me and it was good to get the win together with my teammates. It was a perfect day. I was really excited but I tried to remember it was only qualifying. It was actually a lot of pressure because I really wanted to do good. “I didn’t get a good start in either of my motos and I wasn’t too happy about that. But with my 250 on this kind of track I knew I was capable of doing something good. It was really technical, and bumpy and rutted, and so slow in some areas, but with the 250 I was able to fight with the 450s. To be able to come back and pass Barcia was just unbelievable, but I got too excited and started to make some mistakes. Unfortunately I went down (in the first race) but still finished fourth, which was pretty good. I really wanted to do well this weekend. To be picked for the French team after being missing for two years, I didn’t want to disappoint anybody, also for my last race on the 250.”
Gautier Paulin: “Everything today was about fighting to try and keep our title with all the best countries and their best riders here. To defend the title here in France in front of all the home fans is amazing. They were reaching for us – it’s amazing the feeling they give us when we ride and even in the paddock. I definitely want to thank my teammates for their great job, and the team and the French federation who did an awesome job to give us the best material for this event. The hardest thing after winning last year was to keep it again here in front of the home crowd on home soil, so I don’t have words to describe the feeling of winning again.”
TEAM USA
Justin Barcia: “Today was my favourite type of racing. It was aggressive and clean and I like Marvin as a person and it was great racing today and it as a challenging weekend. I always come to this race to give 100% heart and to never give up. We came up a little short and France didn’t let up. I had a bad jump [out of the gate] in the last moto and maybe things would have been a little different with a better start. I would have loved to have raced with Romain and everyone up front. I caught them towards the end but ran out of time. The track was a lot of fun although it took me some time to get warmed up through the weekend and the traction was challenging. All in all I’m really proud of the whole team. I wish we could have won but we did our best.”
Jeremy Martin: “Today was a good day and I’m proud of how Cooper and Justin rode. The team gave their all. France were really fast this year. When I got behind Marvin after he fell in the first moto it reminded me of when we were racing in the U.S. but he was on another level this weekend. The Motocross of Nations is a one of a kind. It is something you want to be a part of as a racer. I have never heard fans so crazy. When you were on a French rider then you knew it! I’ve never heard so many chainsaws in my life.”
Cooper Webb: “It seemed like Romain and I just kept going from Glen Helen. I would get a better start…but I knew he would be coming! It was fun to be able to race with these guys and it was a whole new experience, having not really ridden the 450 that much and coming to the Nations for the first time. It was a huge honour and nerves were high. It was good though. We did the best we could and we were fighting. I feel like I learned quite a bit. We don’t have anything like that [crowd and atmosphere]. I thought in Glen Helen [last week’s Monster Energy U.S.GP] the fans were good there but this was a whole new level. I knew when Romain was on me, for sure! It was extreme and you had to stay calm and push it aside but it was hard when everybody was so loud and behind their team. I knew we had to make moves in that last moto and pass a lot of the front guys. Unfortunately I stalled it, which put me back a little bit. We made it hard for ourselves but that’s why we race: for the challenge.”
TEAM BELGIUM
Jeremy van Horebeek: “It was a tough weekend. Both Ken [De Dycker] and Julien struggled a bit with crashes so it was hard. In the first moto I did pretty good. I was in third position and Marvin [Musquin] passed me; I was riding a bit tight but not too bad. The second moto start was a disaster and I was in seventeenth or something like that and I said to myself ‘you have to do some damage now and push hard’. After a few laps I was in sixth and had some good battles with Justin and Cooper and they I was showed [on the pitboard] that we were third overall and I thought ‘why take more risks?’. I’m stoked to be on the podium again. I’m happy a tough season is over. We will re-group for next year and make a better season I hope.”
Ken de Dycker: “Yesterday started really good with the pole position but I did have some trouble with arm pump. Then today in the first moto I had quite a big crash and in the end I broke the front brake, so it was quite difficult. It went quite well at the start of the second mot but then I got arm pump again and it’s a bit difficult to ride like that.”
Julien Lieber: “The weekend started badly with a big crash on the downhill when I tried to do the triple. I lost the bike in the air. I rode the whole weekend with pain in both sides of my hip and it was difficult on the rough track and all the bumps. Every time I put my leg on the ground it hurt. It was difficult. In the first race I was eleventh and couldn’t ride at my level. In the second race I bent the front disc and the wheel kept stopping in the air. I had to stop. It was a bad weekend but at least we made the podium again. I’m happy the season is finished and I can make an operation and get healthy for next season.”
