Shaun Simpson: “Questo è stato da lungo tempo che doveva succedere. Mi sono avvicinato di nuovo nel 2009 nella sabbia a Valkenswaard e ho bruciato tutto nella seconda manche. Ho avuto un piccolo infortunio prima e mi è costato molto. Penso a quel giorno in cui sarebbe dovuto essere perfetto … e ci penso molto spesso. Volevo afferrare questa opportunità con entrambe le mani. Non c’era modo di lasciarlo scivolare oggi. La prima manche è andata secondo i piani. La seconda, che forse non ero il ragazzo più veloce là fuori, ma io sicuramente ho pianificato bene. Sapevo che avrei potuto durare di pià sulla distanza. Quello che non era nel copione era l’incidente; Sono appena atterrato sulla sabbia soffice sui bordi alti. Non credo di esser mai risalito da terra e sulla moto così in fretta. Ho fatto gli ultimi due giri con la sabbia tutta nei miei occhiali, così mi sentivo come un sicario, ma sono riuscito a farlo. ”

Gautier Paulin: “Ho dato il 100 per cento oggi, non meno. Con la situazione al ginocchio, questo si sente buono come la vittoria a Valkenswaard e sono davvero felice. Siamo sempre in allenamento qui, ma la pista era piuttosto difficile. Mi sono fatto male al ginocchio destro nella prima manche a Loket, così ieri la qualifica è stata difficile. Mi sono svegliato questa mattina più stanco dopo aver fatto due GP. Mi piace spingere il mio corpo al limite, e questa mattina ho detto: ‘ok, ora si deve ottenere il lavoro giusto in modo da spingere’. Voglio ringraziare la Honda HRC perché hanno lavorato sodo per rendere un grande passo con il motore che mi ha aiutato molto anche oggi. Ero davvero ottimo sulla pista e mi sentivo bene con la mia guida. Avevo bisogno di spingere al 100 per cento oggi fino alla fine, e l’ho fatto, ma ho dovuto scavare a fondo nella mia mente per superare il dolore. Sono davvero contento di questo secondo, e ora andiamo a riposare un po ‘e tornare in piena forma per la prossima gara “.

Romain Febvre: “Sono contento della giornata globale. Nella prima manche mi sentivo veramente bene ed ero molto vicino a Shaun in un momento, ma sono caduto e ho perso il ‘sentimento’. Sono tornato dopo un paio di giri, ma poi sono caduto di nuovo nella sezione wave. Penso che ho usato un sacco di energia per tornare in sella e la carica di nuovo. Ho voluto prendere Gautier ma ho spinto per niente, perché non riuscivo a passarlo. Ho avuto un altro holeshot nella seconda manche, ma ho potuto sentire le mie gambe stancarsi ed è stato molto difficile. Per il terzo due volte è un weekend positivo per il team e me stesso “.

Max Anstie: “E ‘fantastico vincere di nuovo qui a Lommel; è stato un grande giorno per il motocross inglese con questa vittoria e la vittoria di Shaun nella MXGP! I tifosi sono stati grandi oggi. La pista è stata impegnativa fisicamente, ma credo che il modo in cui hanno preparato la pista lo ha reso ancora più difficile. La settimana scorsa non ero molto soddisfatto della mia caduta, così ho fatto in modo che non sarebbe successo di nuovo e, anche se non ho mai guidato qui dal GP dello scorso anno, ho mostrato questo weekend quello che posso fare nella sabbia. Noi continueremo a dare il nostro meglio e vedremo alla fine della serie dove saremo in classifica! ”

Pauls Jonass: “E ‘stata una gara dura, molto dura, ma io sono un discreto corridore sulla sabbia così la cosa principale non era quello di essere troppo sicuri. Mi sentivo bene tutto il weekend e sono stato due volte secondo dietro Max (Anstie) e lui è stato molto veloce in questo fine settimana. Per avere la tabella rossa è qualcosa di incredibile. Non mi aspettavo che sarebbe successo almeno prima di due anni. ”

Petar Petrov: “E ‘stata una grande sensazione essere sul podio, la mia prima e la prima di un pilota bulgaro da quasi trenta anni! E ‘una grande sensazione e spero che sia solo il primo di molti. La pista era veramente dura e rovinata, ma che fa la differenza tra i piloti e mi piacciono molto queste condizioni anche se sono molto stanco. Penso che abbiano fatto un buon lavoro in pista, ci sono state molte linee diverse, è stato possibile passare e poter fare delle belle gare. ”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “Sono molto contento del fine settimana. Era così difficile qui che in realtà sono contento che abbiamo finito. E ‘come non aver mai visto prima Lommel – così rovinata e irregolare. E ‘stato un buon fine settimana in linea di massima con solo uno o due piccoli errori, quindi dobbiamo essere felici. E ‘anche una grande sensazione di vedere il mio nome terzo nel Campionato del Mondo. So che ci sono ancora quattro gare e tutto può succedere, ma è bello essere lì in alto, ed è lì che vogliamo stare in questa stagione. ”

Jeremy Seewer: “Sapevo che sarebbe stata dura, anche se ho fatto un sacco di prove nella sabbia, ma il problema con gli allenamenti è che non è mai così! Troviamo Lommel come questo una volta all’anno. Era incredibile; e non si può mai trovare nulla di simile su una pista d’alenamento. Ho iniziato molto bene nella prima gara – e anche nella seconda – ma i ragazzi sono andati piuttosto veloci nei primi giri ed ho pensato ‘io non ho’ intenzione di farlo, ho intenzione di mantenere il mio ritmo e risparmiare qualche energia . ‘Sono tornato nel gruppo un po’ ma non abbastanza. Ho quasi avuto l’ holeshot nella seconda manche ed è stato meglio nei primi giri. Ero al sicuro in quinta posizione ma poi ho iniziato a essere un po ‘stanco e ho fatto un errore e poi perso il ritmo e l’energia. Ho tirato i remi in barca, ma poi sono caduto di nuovo un po ‘più tardi; per fortuna non era un grande problema. Sono contento della mia guida nella seconda gara perché in queste condizioni credo che sia la migliore che abbia mai fatto. ‘

Kevin Strijbos: “Nella prima gara ho dovuto tornare da ultimo fino al settimo e non è poi così male, ma io era in sella male e nelle curve non facevo girare bene la moto, mi inghiottivano. Lo stesso vale per i dossi e lo stesso è accaduto nella seconda gara. Ero spaventato a corto di energie e quando ho dovuto passare i ragazzi; poi ero così stanco e ho dovuto rallentare di nuovo. Abbiamo fatto tutto il possibile. Abbiamo ripercorso qui e testato qui molte volte. Non è uguale … semplicemente non è come il giorno in cui ci si allena e sembra essere un altra pista. Non capisco perché non posso fare quel passo in gara. ”

Jordi Tixier: “Non è un buon weekend per me, e io sono frustrato stasera con i miei risultati. Nella prima gara ero quinto ma il mio ritmo non era abbastanza buono e ho finito settimo; allora la mia partenza non è stata buona nella seconda manche. Ero nel gruppo e sono caduto alla terza curva. Ero dietro e ho dovuto dare tutto il possibile per tornare, ma ancora una volta ho perso un po ‘di tempo, quando ho avuto un altro incidente e alla fine ho finito dodicesimo. ”

Thomas Covington: E ‘stato un buon weekend per me considerando la pista difficile! Ero per una top ten nella prima gara quando sono caduto e piegato il radiatore che era anche pieno di sabbia e ha causato il surriscaldamento del giro successivo. Nella seconda manche non ho avuto una grande partenza ma sono tornato per un solido decimo posto finale. ”

Glenn Coldenhoff: “Sono un po ‘deluso. La mia partenza non è stata buona nella seconda manche e quando sono caduto, non ho potuto ottenere il mio ritmo. Ero completamente ‘fatto.’ Non ho potuto fare giri come i primi. La prima manche non era così male, credo, e la mia guida era OK. Oggi non era proprio quello che stavamo cercando. Penso che questo è forse il più duro GP che abbiamo visto a Lommel. La velocità è ancora alta, ma quando si arriva in modo irregolare si deve tenere la moto così bene. Per me questo è stato particolarmente duro e sono felice che sia finito. ”

Julien Lieber: “Sono contento, soprattutto dopo il periodo difficile nelle ultime gare. Oggi sono stato un po ‘sfortunato nella prima manche perché ho avuto qualche problema con la schiena e verso la fine della gara ho dovuto sedermi di più che mi ha costretto a stringere un sacco. Ho bruciato la frizione all’ultimo giro e quasi non arrivo alla linea del traguardo, è per questo che ho perso due posizioni. Senza questo problema avrei dovuto essere sul podio. Nella seconda gara ero terzo e poi fatto un errore stupido verso la fine perché ero di nuovo così stanco a causa della mia schiena. Faremo alcuni controlli alla fine della stagione e magari consideriamo qualche intervento di chirurgia per essere in forma per il prossimo anno. Ho perso il mio GP di casa negli ultimi due anni, quindi si sente grande per fare un bel risultato qui. Voglio ringraziare la squadra Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube e tutta la mia famiglia per tutto quello che fanno per me. Il mio allenatore Yves Demaria e anche Tim Mathys [Proprietario Team] che investe tanto nella squadra e questo è davvero un bene per noi. ”

Valentin Guillod: “Nella prima manche sono stato posizionato al di fuori del cancello e non ho fatto un buon inizio. Ero ventiduesimo al primo giro e sono tornato al decimo. Non mi sentivo così bene. Ero seduto molto e ho avuto un piccolo incidente per finire dodicesimo. Non è una buona gara perché fisicamente stavo lottando. Ho tagliato verso l’interno nella seconda manche e ha funzionato perché ero in settima. Van Doninck mi ha passato e mi gettò in alcuni dossi ed sono andato oltre le sbarre. La sua moto che era di fronte a me mi ha colpito e ha rotto il radiatore. Ero molto arrabbiato con me stesso e come tutto era andato. Ora sto focalizzato per le prossime gare. Voglio lavorare sodo e voglio il titolo “.

Jeremy van Horebeek: “E ‘stata così dura. Ho dato tutto me stesso ma era già difficile nella prima manche. Negli ultimi giri ho avuto un sacco di dolore alla schiena, è ancora dall’ incidente che ho avuto a Kester [Campionato Belga]. Dopo cinque minuti nella seconda manche non riuscivo a stare in piedi. Ero vuoto. Non ho molto da dire. E ‘stato un anno difficile ma noi continuiamo a lavorare. ”

Harri Kullas: “E ‘stato un weekend fantastico per me e per la squadra. Arrivare così vicini al terzo posto ma al quinto, è un po ‘deludente. Sabato è andato bene, ma abbiamo avuto un piccolo problema tecnico durante la mia gara di qualifica, così ho avuto l’ultima scelta del cancello per le gare di domenica. Se si considerano i miei risultati, sono migliori – Sono soddisfatto di loro. Ho avuto una partenza ok nella prima manche e mi sono trasferito in avanti da circa 11 ° abbastanza rapidamente. Ho continuato a spingere e ha ottenuto il quarto all’ultimo giro e non era troppo lontano dal terzo. Non ho avuto una bella partenza nella seconda manche. Todd Waters: “Credo che le condizioni diffcili e più dure di tutti i GP passati siano qui – è stato brutale. Sono stato contento di come sia andata la mia gara di qualifica, così sono andato alla partenza della prima manche in ottima posizione. Stavo combattendo duro e ho messo su una grande lotta, fino alla fine della manche. Ho preso Van Horebeek e dato tutto. Era ovvio che nella seconda manche sarebbe stato difficile, così ho cercato di essere intelligente. Ho lasciato andare al mio passo, ma ero contento con la mia forma fisica. Ho spinto al massimo al quinto posto, poi lasciato cadere una posizione a Strijbos. ”

Tyla Rattray: “Uomo, non ho mai guidato su una pista così impegnativa nella mia carriera, anche se sono venuto qui a Lommel molte volte per allenarmi durante il periodo invernale! Lommel è sempre un posto speciale ed è per questo che spendiamo po ‘di tempo qui ad allenarci, ma oggi ci sono volute un sacco di energie per un sacco di noi, e credo che tutti i piloti MXGP dormiranno bene stanotte! Abbiamo fatto alcune modifiche alla moto dopo il warm up, ma quando abbiamo fatto la nostra prima gara era tutto diverso da tante gare e abbiamo ancora fatto delle ulteriori modifiche per la seconda manche. E ‘stata definitivamente la decisione giusta e sono stato felice di venire via con una settima posizione in questa gara. C’erano solchi profondi, canali, la pista era molto deteriorata ed è bello avere una pausa adesso per preparare gli ultimi quattro GP. ”

Shaun Simpson: “This has been a long time coming. I got close back in 2009 in the sand in Valkenswaard and I burned out in the second moto. I had a small injury before and it cost me a lot. I think about that day when it should have been perfect…and I don’t get them very often. I wanted to grab this opportunity with both hands. There was no way I was going to let it slip today. The first moto went to plan. The second one – I maybe wasn’t the fastest guy out there but I definitely planned it well – I knew I could last the distance. What wasn’t in the script was the crash; I just landed in some soft sand and high-sided. I don’t think I have ever got off the ground and on the bike so quickly. I did the last two laps with my peak in front of my goggles so I felt like a right goon but managed to get it done.”

Max Anstie: “It’s awesome to win again here in Lommel; it was a great day for British motocross with this win and Shaun’s win in the MXGP! The fans were great today. The track was demanding physically but I think that the way they prepared the track made it even more difficult. Last week I wasn’t very happy with my crash, so I just made sure that it wouldn’t happen again and, even if I never rode here since the GP last year, I showed this weekend what I can do in the sand. We’ll continue to give our best, and we’ll see at the end of the series where we’ll be in the standings!”

Pauls Jonass: “It was a tough race, really tough, but I’m a quite good sand racer so the main thing was not to be over-confident. I felt good all weekend and I was twice second behind Max (Anstie) and he was really fast this weekend. To have the red plate is something unbelievable. I didn’t expect this would happen for at least two years.”

Petar Petrov: “It was a great feeling to be on the podium, my first ever and the first one of a Bulgarian rider for almost thirty years! It’s a great feeling and I hope that it’s just the first one of many. The track was really tough and rough, but that makes the difference between the riders and I really like these conditions even if I’m very tired now. I think that they did a good job on the track, there were many different lines, it was possible to pass and we could make some good races.”

Romain Febvre: “I’m happy with the day overall. In the first moto I felt really good and I was very close to Shaun at one moment but I crashed and I lost the ‘feeling’. It came back after a couple of laps but then I crashed again in the waves section. I think I used a lot of energy to get back on the bike and charge again. I wanted to catch Gautier but I pushed myself for nothing because I couldn’t pass him. I got another holeshot in the second moto but I could feel my legs [getting tired] and it was very difficult. To be third twice is a positive weekend for the team and myself.”

Gautier Paulin: “I gave 100 per cent today, not one little bit less. With the situation with the knee, this feels as good as the win in Valkenswaard and I’m really happy. We’re always training here, but the track was pretty tough. I hurt my right knee in the first moto in Loket, so yesterday the qualifying was tough. I woke this morning more tired than if I made two GPs. I like to push my body to the limit, and this morning I said: ‘ok, now you have to get the job done so just push’. I want to thank HRC Honda because they have been working hard to make a big step with the engine which helped me a lot also today. I was really enjoying the track and feeling good on it with my riding. I needed to push 100 per cent today right to the end, and I did it but I had to dig deep in my mind to overcome the pain. I’m really happy with this second, and now we’ll go and rest a bit and be back at full fitness for the next race.”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “I’m really pleased with the weekend. It was so tough here that actually I’m glad we’ve finished it. It’s like I’ve never seen Lommel before – so rough and bumpy. It was a good consistent weekend with just one or two little mistakes, so we have to be happy. It’s also a great feeling to see my name third in the World Championship. I know there are still four races left and anything can happen, but it’s great to be there at the top, and that’s where we want to stay this season.”

Jeremy Seewer: “I knew it would be tough even though I’ve done plenty of sand practice but the problem with practice is that it’s never like that! We find Lommel like this once a year. It was unbelievable; and you can never find anything like that on a practice track. I started really well in the first race – and also in the second – but the guys went pretty fast on the first laps and I thought ‘I’m not ‘gonna do that, I’m going to keep my rhythm and save some energy.’ I came back to the group a little bit but not enough. I almost had the holeshot in the second moto and was better in the first laps. I was safe in fifth place but then I started to get a bit tired and I made a mistake and then lost the rhythm and energy. I pulled the bike back up but then crashed again a bit later; luckily it was not a big one. I’m happy with my riding in the second race because in these conditions I think it is the best I have ever done.’

Bas Vaessen: “I’m pretty happy with my riding but my will-to-win was a little bit too much! I’m disappointed with my results but I was the fastest guy on the track because I came back from 16th to first. Before I crashed I was with Lars [Van Berkel] and it was like ‘who will shut off the gas first?’ Lars did it first…but he was also the smartest.”

Kevin Strijbos: “In the first race I had to come back from last until seventh and it is not that bad but I was riding bad and just rolling the corners instead of ‘taking’ them. The same for the bumps and the same happened in the second race. I was scared to run out of steam and when I had to pass guys; then I got so tired and I had to slow down again. We did everything we could. We rode here and tested here many times. It is not the bike…it just didn’t happen on the day and it seems to be the same every year. I don’t understand why I cannot make that step in the race.”

Jordi Tixier: “Not a good weekend for me, and I’m frustrated tonight with my results. In the first race I was fifth but my rhythm wasn’t good enough and I finished seventh; then my start was not so good in the second moto. I was in the pack and crashed at the third corner. I was last and just had to give all I could to come back, but again I lost some time when I had another crash and eventually finished twelfth.”

Thomas Covington: It was a pretty good weekend for me considering the tough track! I was going for a top ten in the first race when I crashed and packed the radiator full of sand causing it to overheat the next lap. In the second moto I didn’t get the greatest start but came back for a solid tenth place finish.”

Glenn Coldenhoff: “I’m a bit disappointed. My start was not good in the second moto and when I crashed I could not get my rhythm back. I was completely ‘done.’ I couldn’t do the laps like I was before. The first moto was not so bad, I think, and my riding was OK. Today was not really what we were looking for. I think this perhaps is the roughest we have seen Lommel. The speed is still high but when it gets so bumpy you have to hold the bike so well. For me this one was especially tough and I’m happy it’s done.”

Julien Lieber: “I’m happy, especially after the difficult time in the last few races. Today I was a bit unlucky in the first moto because I had a few problems with my back and towards the end of the race I had to sit down more which meant I had to clutch a lot. I burned the clutch on the last lap and almost didn’t make the finish line, that’s why I lost two positions. Without that problem I should have been on the podium. In the second race I was third and then made a stupid mistake near the end because I was so tired again because of my back. We’ll make some checks at the end of the season and maybe consider some surgery to be fit for next year. I missed my home GP for the last two years so it feels great to make a nice result here. I want to thank the Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube team and all my family for all they do for me. My trainer Yves Demaria and also Tim Mathys [Team Owner] who invests so much in the team and this is really good for us.”

Valentin Guillod: “In the first moto I was positioned to the outside of the gate and didn’t make a good start. I was twenty-second on the first lap and came back to tenth. I wasn’t feeling so good. I was sitting down a lot and had a small crash to finish twelfth. Not a good moto because physically I was struggling. I cut to the inside for the second moto and it worked because I was around seventh. Van Doninck passed me and jumped into some bumps and went over the bars. His bike was in front of me and I hit it and broke the radiator. I was pretty mad at myself and how it had all turned out. Now I am focussed for the next races. I want to work hard and I want that title.”

Brent Van Doninck: “I’m so disappointed. I expected a lot from this weekend and it turned out completely the other way. Saturday was good. I had a good feeling, was riding smooth and was confident for Sunday. The first moto was going pretty well. I was saving some energy at first and right when I started pushing, I crashed. It took me a while to get back in the rhythm and finished ninth in the end. Second moto; my start was average and I pushed straight away. In the second lap the sand soaked up my bike after a big jump and I went over the bars. I had some troubles breathing and was in pain, so that was the end of a day to forget.”

Benoit Paturel: “I’m quite satisfied with the weekend. This was by far the gnarliest track I’ve ever ridden. If they would have told me I would finish 8th overall in Lommel, I would have signed immediately. I feel I learned a lot in the sand. This was the aim for me for this year, and the plan is to step up towards next year.’

Jeremy van Horebeek: “It was so tough. I gave it my all but it was already tough for me in the first moto. In the last few laps I had a lot of pain in my back, which is still from a crash I had at Kester [Belgian Championship]. After five minutes in the second moto I could not stand up anymore. I was empty. I don’t have much to say. It has been a difficult year and we will keep working.”

Harri Kullas: “It’s been a great weekend for me and the team. Getting so close to third overall yet finishing fifth, it’s a little disappointing. Saturday went well but we had a small technical issue during my qualifying race, so I had last pick of the gate for Sunday’s races. When you consider that it makes my results even better – I’m pleased with them. I got an ok start in the first moto and moved forward from about 11th pretty quickly. I just kept pushing and got fourth on the final lap and wasn’t too far from third. I didn’t get away well in the second moto. I got to about seventh after four or five laps and knew I just needed to keep pushing. I gave that race everything. It was a tough but positive GP for me.”

Todd Waters: “I guess conditions don’t get much rougher and tougher than they did today – it was brutal. I was happy with the way my qualifying race went, so I went for it at the start of the first moto. I was battling hard and put up a big fight, right to the end of the moto. I got onto the back of Van Horebeek and gave everything. It was obvious the second moto would be tough, so I tried to be smart. I dropped it once, but was pleased with my fitness. I pushed hard to fifth, then dropped one spot to Strijbos.”

Nathan Watson: “It was a tough, tough GP for me. I felt good early on when the track wasn’t as rough as it was on Sunday. I gave everything I could during the first 20 minutes of the opening moto, and then I was really feeling it. I just did what I could to get to the finish. In the end 11th wasn’t too bad. I knew I’d have to fight from the start in the second moto. I really struggled to finish – it was unbelievably hard. In the end I got disqualified for running off track early in the race, which was so disappointing for a lot of reasons.”

Ben Watson: “My speed was OK today and that is the most important thing. In the first race I had Brian Bogers next to me and he nudged forward and hit the gate and that made me go. I was last and came through quite strong until someone crashed in front of me and I had nowhere to go and just ploughed into the bike. I came back again and was quite happy with fourteenth. In race two I had a good start and was top ten but the bike lost its power. A shame but we’ll look to the next one.”

Tyla Rattray: “Man, I never rode on such a demanding track in my career, even if I came here in Lommel many times to practice during the winter time! Lommel is always a special place and that’s why we spend some time here to train, but today it took a lot out of us, and I think that all the MXGP riders will sleep well tonight! We made some changes on the bike after the warm up, but when we did our first race the track had changed after so many races and we still made some more changes for the second moto. It was definitively the right decision and I was happy to come away with a seventh position in this race. There were deep ruts, long holes, the track was really rough and it’s good to have a break now to prepare the final four GPs.”
