Per Max Anstie (Kawasaki) e Glenn Coldenhoff (Suzuki) il GP della Lettonia è stato molto divertente. Guarda cosa ne pensano del weekend e anche quello che pensano molti altri piloti a riguardo.

Glenn Coldenhoff: “Il weekend è iniziato bene e sono stato veloce fin da subito. Ho sempre avuto un buon feeling con questa pista e anche al Nazioni è andato bene l’anno scorso e questo GP anche. Naturalmente ero molto felice con la prima manche. Ho iniziato la stagione con un po ‘di lotta. L’obiettivo era top-10 in principio, o più tardi, e muoversi fino alla cima/cinque e questo è venuto un po ‘inaspettatamente! Vincere un GP è qualcosa di diverso! Sono davvero felice e il team ha lavorato duramente … è semplicemente fantastico. ”

Gautier Paulin: “E ‘sempre positivo quando siamo sul podio, è un bene per tutto il team, proprio quando abbiamo visto il tracciato che abbiamo avuto ieri potevamo aspettarci un po’ meglio oggi. Terzo e terzo, secondo assoluto è forte, ma ieri ho completamente dominato la giornata. E ‘stato davvero bagnato oggi quindi questo è stato un po’ più difficile per le moto perché era molto appiccicoso, ha anche reso più difficile passare i piloti. Romain Febvre: Che dire, ero forse secondo o terzo sul rettilineo ma andando alla curva qualcuno mi ha colpito e alcuni di noi sono caduti insieme. Ho perso un po ‘di tempo a riavviare la moto e quando stavo guardando il gruppo oltre uno dei salti ho potuto vedere che erano molto lontano! Max Anstie: “Un weekend perfetto, vincendo la gara di qualifica ed entrambe le manche del GP. Ero fiducioso nella gara, ma dovevo ancora farlo accadere. La partenza è stata davvero pesante nella prima gara dopo la pioggia di ieri sera, ma ben presto ero quarto e ho fatto fuori i piloti davanti a me uno ad uno. Mentre aspettavo la partenza della seconda gara mi è entrato per la testa che non avevo mai fatto 1-1 prima, ma ho avuto l’holeshot ed ho guidato per la mia strada. Tutta la squadra ha lavorato duramente per questa vittoria e dimostra che stiamo andando nella direzione giusta e cercando più vittorie prima che la stagione finisca “.

Pauls Jonass: “Non posso descrivere quanto sono felice. Per essere secondo in Thailandia e Argentina, poi essere secondo al mio GP di casa, è completamente diverso. Era quasi come una vittoria per me con tutti i tifosi e la mia famiglia e gli amici e quindi ero felice di renderli orgogliosi. Era mio e del mio manager l’obiettivo di stare sul podio lettone, ma nessuno si aspettava che sarebbe successo così in fretta. ”

Harry Kullas: “Sono così, così felice di questo risultato. E ‘qualcosa che ho voluto da tanto tempo, infine è arrivato, è semplicemente incredibile. E ‘una sorpresa positiva. Gli ultimi giorni sono stati abbastanza sorprendenti, e molto affollati. Ottenere una tale e straordinaria opportunità come questa, volevo solo fare del mio meglio. La mia moto era fantastica. Una volta che abbiamo avuto le prove abbiamo capito durante il Sabato che mi sentito veramente bene in pista ed in entrambe le manche di Domenica. La pista era dura nella prima manche ma la gara è andata bene. Mi sentivo bene nella seconda manche – per arrivare al terzo posto è semplicemente incredibile. Jeremy Van Horebeek:  Ho la velocità per essere tra i primi tre, facilmente, ma se non si ottiene l’inizio allora hai bisogno di prendere rischi nei primi giri. Bene, oggi ho guidato così, tranne che per quel piccolo incidente nella seconda manche mi ha ralentato, ma devo sempre venire attraverso la parte posteriore. Come ho detto, il mio passo è buono, ma qualcosa non va al momento. Mi sento bene ed in forma. Noi lavoriamo duro e apporteremo alcune modifiche.

Kevin Strijbos: “In un certo senso io sono deluso perché dopo la prima gara c’era una buona occasione … ma d’altra parte ho girato un cattivo GP. Ho avuto un terribile inizio nella seconda manche e lo slittamento delle ruote nel cancello. E ‘stato’ un pò difficile e ‘necessaria’ la partenza. Mi ci è voluto un po ‘per andare avanti e superare Ferris e Simpson. Allora ho provato a chiudere il gap con Bobby e tagliare qualcosa come un secondo di distanza, ma ho commesso anche errori. Ero secondo alla partenza nella prima gara e ho finito quarto. Ho provato a vedere questo in un modo diverso perché il mio contendente per il titolo era in fondo al gruppo. La pista era più irregolare nella seconda manche e la mia partenza non è stata molto buona come nella prima. Ero nono o decimo all’inizio ma ho avuto un super primo giro ed ero già terzo alla fine di questo. Poi ho cercato di resistere e sfidare Coldenhoff per il secondo. Questo mi è costato un sacco di energia, ma era positivo per finire la seconda gara ancora al quarto posto e sono abbastanza felice di questo. ”

Jordi Tixier: “Ieri abbiamo faticato troppo con la sospensione, e ho fatto molti cambiamenti prima della gara di qualifica. Non ho avuto tempo di provare le nuove impostazioni, ma ha avuto un buon inizio, poi dopo tre curve c’era una strana reazione della moto e sono caduto; un pilota mi ha colpito e ho rotto la mia ginocchiera nella caduta così ho avuto un brutto cancello per le manche del GP. La mia prima partenza non è stata male, ma mi ci è voluto troppo tempo per trovare la fiducia e prendere un buon ritmo. La mia seconda partenza non è stata buona, poi sono caduto una volta e ho potuto recuperare per finire ottavo. Dobbiamo lavorare ancora sulle sospensioni prima del prossimo GP; Sento che non posso andare più veloce in questo momento, anche se abbiamo un ottimo motore. ”

Thomas Covington: “Sono arrivato decimo nel complesso questo fine settimana, in modo che è molto meglio rispetto alle prove precedenti. Non è stato un grande fine settimana, ma non è nemmeno troppo male. Nella prima manche ho avuto una brutta partenza, sono tornato nel gruppo e ho avuto un altro incidente, finalmente ho finito quattordicesimo. Valentin Guillod:  Ieri era OK. La mia guida non era perfetta, ma oggi ho avuto un sacco di problemi. Per guidare qui e in quelle condizioni si deve stringere un sacco e andare in alto numero di giri e questo non è proprio il mio stile. Nella prima manche ero decimo e un pilota è caduto proprio davanti a me in una curva.. Ero molto motivato per la seconda gara perché volevo fare molto meglio e ho fatto la partenza che mi serviva, ma alla terza curva sono arrivato al fianco di Anstie e ho perso la ruota anteriore; Io davvero non so perché è successo. La mia guida dopo non era così male, ma Tixier ha colpito la mia ruota posteriore che mi ha mandato fuori in una curva e sono caduto di nuovo. Un weekend da dimenticare davvero.

Julien Lieber: sono caduto in ogni gara, così almeno ero in linea con tutto. Abbiamo faticato molto con l’inizio di nuovo e abbiamo bisogno di trovare una soluzione quindi sono sempre bloccato nella top quindici. Ho bisogno di spingere troppo su piste che sono difficili per i sorpassi. Non è un buon fine settimana, ma almeno sono sano. Ora abbiamo bisogno di lavorare di più sulle partenze.

Tim Gajser: “Ieri e anche questa mattina il ritmo è stato buono qui, ma era molto difficile oggi a causa della caduta nella prima manche. Avevano preparato la pista abbastanza profondamente e quando ero sui freni, qualcuno mi ha colpito da dietro e la ruota anteriore nella mia quindi sono caduto. E ‘stato difficile passare perché la maggior parte della pista aveva una linea, ma ho avuto un paio di posti in cui sono stato molto veloce, nel corso delle sezioni wave, ho potuto fare molti sorpassi lì per tornare al settimo. Questa è sempre la stessa, così mi basta guardare tutto gara per gara, e vedremo dove siamo alla fine della stagione. Sto solo aspettando Loket e tornare in sella di nuovo e fare quello che amo fare! ”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “Oggi è stato un po ‘difficile davvero. In gara uno ho perso un sacco di tempo alla prima curva quando tre piloti sono caduti davanti a me, quindi da allora ho dovuto lottare di nuovo in mezzo al traffico, ma era così difficile da superare perché c’era un fondo e una sola rlinea. Gara due è andata meglio, prendiamo un po’più di buoni punti, ma nel complesso io sono un po ‘deluso, dopo questo fine settimana abbiamo avuto il ritmo”.

Dean Ferris: “Non vedevo davvero l’arrivo di questo fine settimana, soprattutto dopo i miei forti risultati al GP di Svezia. La prima gara è stata davvero un allineamento, il che ha reso difficile i sorpassi. Ho iniziato male, ma verso la fine della manche ho lasciato cadere qualche posizione. La seconda manche era un po ‘la stessa cosa. Ero sesto, ma sceso al 10 °. La mia velocità era buona, ma che non si è tradotta in risultati buoni in questo fine settimana. ”

Tommy Searle: “Questo è un momento difficile per me. Posso guidare bene ma poi in qualche modo la Domenica non accade. La prima gara è stata un peccato, perché un altro pilota si è schiantato su di me in partenza e poi sono caduto e sono dovuto rientrare ai box. Poi ho avuto un altra grande caduta nel primo giro della seconda manche quindi è stato un fine settimana difficile per me. ”

Shaun Simpson: «Ho lottato con la pista; è stato un week-end lungo. Stavo provando troppo duro nella prima manche e non potevo evitare Ferris e quindi anche Bobryshev breve. Ho pensato di essermi fatto male alla mano in realtà, ma con un paio di antidolorifici andava bene. La seconda manche era migliore, ma io sono perplesso per molti aspetti positivi di questa gara. Credo di essere ancora settimo in campionato e limitato i danni con una solida seconda manche, ma abbiamo affrontato alcune problemi difficili in questo GP e bisogna semplicemente andare avanti. ”

Todd Waters: “Crashing duro nella mia gara di qualifica il Sabato ha reso questo un GP difficile per me. Ho ottenuto un ottimo inizio, ero in seconda dietro a Tommy Searle e poi ho colpito il terreno. Non ho finito la gara e mi ha dato l’ultima scelta per la partenza di Domenica, quindi ho sempre saputo che dovevo ottenere partenze forti. La prima manche era andata male, ma poi ho lasciato perdere un paio di giri dalla fine e sono sceso al 14°. La pista era abbastanza liscia. Davey Pootjes: “Ho avuto una buona partenza nella prima manche. Ho quasi preso l’holeshot e ho finito terzo. Nella seconda manche stavo guidando in terza poi ho avuto un incidente ed ancora finito undicesimo, quindi sono abbastanza contento del risultato complessivo. ”

Steven Frossard: “Ho già un buon feeling con la moto, anche se non ho guido prima di venire qui, quindi per questa prima gara di ritorno sono felice con un sesto posto assoluto. Ieri mi sono presto sentito fiducioso sulla moto, ma Philippaerts mi ha colpito durante nella gara di qualifica così ho avuto una pessima porta per le gare GP. Non è stato così facile iniziare dal cancello 15° e oggi ho perso un po ‘il ritmo nei primi giri e nella seconda manche mi sentivo male fisicamente, non ero al mio meglio. Jeremy Seewer: “Sono abbastanza contento oggi. Ero vicino al podio e non riuscivo a prendere Kullas nella seconda gara, ma i risultati – quarto e quinto – erano solidi e bene per il campionato. In passato ho sempre faticato in condizioni come queste. La mia guida sulla sabbia è molto meglio ora, ma quando ci sono le gare sotto la sabbia e con la pioggia, è una lotta, big-time! Quindi sono felice con la mia velocità e la mia sensazione. Fino a Loket ora e terreno duro di nuovo. ”

Christophe Charlier: “Non sono contento di come è andato il fine settimana. Entrambi i giorni ho trovato difficoltà a mettermi a proprio agio là fuori. La pista era un buon posto e soprattutto nella prima manche sembrava esserci una sola linea. Ho fatto qualche progresso durante il fine settimana, ma ottenere risultati in MXGP devi essere nel mix subito. Certo che ora non vedo l’ora di Loket, che è uno dei miei circuiti preferiti del calendario. Dopo di che ci staremo preparando per Lommel, che dovrebbe essere una bella sfida. So che posso migliorare sotto la sabbia, ma ho bisogno di più prove per correre forte senza prendere rischi inutili. ”

Glenn Coldenhoff: “The weekend started good and I was fast right away. I’ve always had a good feeling on this track and the ‘Nations went well last year and this GP also. Of course I was really happy with the first moto. I started the season with a bit of a struggle. The goal was top-10 in the beginning, and later-on move up to the top-five and this came a bit unexpectedly! Winning a GP is something different! I’m really happy and the team has worked hard…it is just great.”

Gautier Paulin: “It’s always positive when we’re on the podium as it’s good for everybody in the team, just when we saw the riding we had yesterday we could expect a little better. Third and third, and second overall is strong, but yesterday I completely dominated the day. It was really wet today so this was a little harder for the bikes because it was very sticky, and it also made it harder to pass. Actually the whole weekend I didn’t make good starts, but yesterday was a little easier to pass than today so I could come through more easily. For sure it’s positive, and although we still aim to do better, I’m happy.”

Romain Febvre: “I was maybe second or third on the straight but going into the turn somebody hit me and some of us crashed together. I lost some time restarting the bike and when I was looking at the pack going over one of the jumps I could see that they were really far! I knew it would be difficult to come back but I managed it to eighth. I was really happy with my riding – but not with the result – and I knew with a good start in the second moto I had the speed to lead and made it happen.”

Max Anstie: “A perfect weekend, winning the Qualifying race and both GP motos. I was confident from the word go, but I still had to make it happen. The start was really heavy in the first race after the rain last night, but I was soon fourth and just picked off the riders ahead of me one by one. As I waited for the start of the second race it went through my head that I had never gone 1-1 before, but I got the holeshot and was on my way. The whole team has worked hard for this win and it proves that we are headed in the right direction and looking for more wins before the season is over.”

Pauls Jonass: “I can’t describe how happy I am. To be second in Thailand and Argentina, then to be second at my home GP, that’s completely different. It was almost like a victory for me with all the fans and my family and friends so I was happy to make them proud. It was my manager’s and my goal to have a Latvian on the podium here but no-one expected it would happen so fast.”

Harry Kullas: “I’m so, so happy with this result. It’s something I’ve wanted for such a long time – to finally get it is just amazing. It’s such a positive surprise. The last few days have been pretty amazing, and very busy. Getting such an amazing opportunity like this, I just wanted to do my best. My bike was great. Once we got some stuff figured out during Saturday I felt really good out on track in both motos on Sunday. The second moto felt like the longest moto of my life. Everyone knows that a good start here is so important, and I managed to get two really good starts. The track was tough in the first moto but the race went well. I felt good in the second moto – to get third overall is just amazing. I really want to thank the Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna team, I really hope we can keep things going well like this.”

Jeremy Van Horebeek: “I have the speed to be in the top three, easily, but if you don’t get the start then you need to take risks on the first laps. I rode good today – except for that small crash in the second moto – but I’m always having to come through from the back. Like I said, my pace is good, but something is not clicking at the moment. I’m feeling good and fit. We’ll work hard and make some changes.”

Kevin Strijbos: “In one way I’m disappointed because after the first race there was a good opportunity…but on the other hand I turned a bad GP around when you look at yesterday. I had a terrible start in the second moto and just had wheel spin in the gate. It was ‘kinda difficult and you ‘needed’ the start. It took me a while to get going and pass Ferris and Simpson. I then tried to close the gap to Bobby and cut something like a second away but I was also making mistakes. Mentally I was a bit ‘done’ by that point. I settled at sixth then because there was nothing else to do. I’m really happy for Glenn. He is still a rookie on the big bike and needs to learn a lot but he has already made good steps.”

Antonio Cairoli: “The start is very important here and I knew I would be able to get a good start even from the outside gate positions. I was second at the start in the first race and finished fourth. I tried to see this in a different way because my contender for the title was in the back of the field. It was a positive race because we got some points, and for sure we didn’t expect this yesterday. The track was bumpier in the second moto and my start wasn’t quite as good as in the first. I was nine or ten at the start but I had a super first lap and I was already third at the end of it. Then I just tried to hold on and challenge Coldenhoff for second. This cost me a lot of energy but it was positive to finish the second race also in fourth place and I am pretty happy about that.”

Jordi Tixier: “Yesterday we struggled too much with the suspension, and made many changes before the Qualifying race. I didn’t have time to test the new settings but had a good start, then after three corners there was a strange reaction of the bike and I crashed; one rider hit me and I broke my knee brace in the crash so I had a bad gate for the GP motos. My first start was not so bad but it took me too much time to find my confidence and take a good rhythm. My second start was not good, then I crashed one time and could only recover to finish eighth. We need to work again on the suspension before the next GP; I feel that I can’t go faster at the moment even though we have a very good engine.”

Thomas Covington: “I finished tenth overall this weekend, so that’s a lot better than the previous rounds. It was not a great weekend, but it was not too bad. In the first moto I got a bad start, came back in the pack and had another crash, and finally finished fourteenth. I got a better start in the second moto and felt pretty strong; the only person to pass me all race was my teammate Jordi. They did a really good job to prepare the track this weekend; we had a meeting with the FIM on Friday to talk about the tracks, and even with the rain in the night and the morning the track here was OK.”

Valentin Guillod: “Yesterday was OK. My riding was not perfect but today I had a lot of problems. To ride here and in those conditions you have to clutch-it a lot and ride on high rpm and that’s not really my style. In the first moto I was tenth and a rider crashed right in front of me in a corner. I had nowhere to go. I was really motivated for the second race because I wanted to do much better and I made the start I needed but in the third corner I came alongside Anstie and lost the front wheel; I really don’t know why that happened. My riding after that was not so bad but Tixier hit my rear wheel coming out of a corner and I crashed again. A weekend to forget really.”

Julien Lieber: “I crashed in each race…so at least I was consistent with those. We struggled a lot with the start again and we need to find a solution so I am not always stuck in the top fifteen. I need to push too much on tracks that are difficult for overtaking. Not a good weekend but at least I’m healthy. Now we need to work more on the starts…”

Tim Gajser: “Yesterday and even this morning the pace was good here, but it was quite tough today because of the crash in the first moto. They had ripped the track quite deep and when I was on the brakes, someone hit my back and the front wheel dug in so I was right at the back. It was difficult to pass because most of the track was one line, but I had a couple of places where I was really fast, over the wave sections, and I could make many passes there to come back to seventh. Then in the second race, I had a knock to the ankle also in the first corner which made it uncomfortable and I could not ride as I wanted. Anyway we could finish fifth and get some good points. Of course we want as many points as we can for the championship, but honestly I’m not focused on that. After the start of this year, I focused on relaxing more and enjoying each race more, and not putting any pressure on myself but going to just have fun. This is still the same, so I just look at everything race by race, and we’ll see where we are at the end of the season. I’m just looking forward to Loket and getting back on the bike again and doing what I love to do!”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “Today was a bit tough really. In race one I lost a lot of time in the first corner when three riders crashed in front of me, so from then I had to fight back through the traffic but it was so difficult to overtake because there was basically just one line. Race two was better, and we take some more good points, but overall I’m a little disappointed after this weekend as we had the pace for more.”

Dean Ferris: “I was really looking for more this weekend, especially after my strong results at the GP of Sweden. The first race was really one-lined, which made it hard to pass. I started ok but near the end of the moto I dropped some position. The second moto was kind of the same. I was sixth, but dropped to 10th. My speed was good but that didn’t translate into results this weekend.”

Tommy Searle: “This is a difficult time for me. I can ride well then somehow on Sunday it doesn’t happen for me. The first race was unfortunate because another rider crashed into me at the start and then I crashed and I had to come into the pits. Then I had another big crash in the first lap of the second moto so it was a difficult weekend for me.”

Shaun Simpson: “If we never come back to this circuit I won’t be sad! I just struggled to gel with the track; it has been a long weekend. I was trying too hard in the first moto and couldn’t avoid Ferris and then also Bobryshev when he landed short. I thought I’d hurt my hand actually but with a couple of painkillers it was fine. The second moto was better but I’m stumped for many positives from this race. I suppose I’m still seventh in the championship and limited the damage with a solid second moto but we faced some tough odds at this GP and will just have to move on.”

Todd Waters: “Crashing hard in my qualifying race on Saturday made this a tough GP for me. I got a great start, was sat in second behind Tommy Searle and then hit the ground. Not finishing the race gave me last pick for the start on Sunday, so I always knew it would be good to get strong starts. The first moto was going ok but then I dropped it with a few laps to go and dropped to 14th. The track was pretty slick. I gave my all in the second moto and felt good. 10th wasn’t the result I was looking for, but it’s hard to come back from a big qualifying crash.”

Davey Pootjes: “I had a good start in the first moto. I almost took the holeshot and I finished third. In the second moto I was riding in third then I had a crash and still finished eleventh, so I’m pretty happy with the overall result.”

Steven Frossard: “I already have a good feeling on the bike, even though I didn’t ride it before coming here, so for this first race back I’m happy with a sixth overall. Yesterday I soon felt confident on the bike, but Philippaerts hit me during the Qualifying race so I had a very bad gate for the GP races. It was not so easy to start from the fifteenth gate and today I missed some rhythm during the first few laps and in the second moto I felt sick so physically I was not at my best. I missed the top five but I’m happy; now we have time to do some more testing to prepare for the hard pack of Loket.”

Tyla Rattray: “It was a tough weekend and the track changed so much from Saturday to Sunday due to the showers! On Saturday I earned the eighth gate choice for the GP races and was confident, but at the first moto I found such a soft surface that I crashed in the first corner. I lost a lot of time to restart, and did the entire race with pain in my hand; after the finish I got it examined and that revealed a broken bone in my thumb. I wanted to start the second race, but it was so painful that I had to retire halfway through race. I will see my doctor this week and we’ll see what we can do.”

Jeremy Seewer: “I’m pretty happy about today. I was close to the podium and just couldn’t catch Kullas in the second race but the results – fourth and fifth – were solid and good for the championship. In the past I have always struggled in conditions like these. My sand riding is much better now but when there were races in the sand and the rain when it was a struggle, big-time! So I’m happy with my speed and my feeling. Up to Loket now and hard-pack again.”

Christophe Charlier: “I’m not happy with how the weekend went. Both days I found it difficult to get comfortable out there. The track was prettty sketchy and especially in the first moto there seemed to be only one line. I did make some progress over the weekend but get results in MXGP you have to be in the mix straight away. Of course I’m looking forward to Loket which is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. After that we will we be preparing for Lommel which should be a nice challenge. I know I can improve in the sand but I need more practice to race hard without taking unnecessary risks.”
