Un altro Gran Premio è andato e con tanti fattori che hanno caratterizzato la gara in Italia, i migliori piloti del mondo hanno attraversato il weekend che è stato frenetico. Condizioni incerte per tutto il fine settimana hanno reso questo un evento molto speciale ed emozionante. Ascoltate quello che molti dei piloti hanno detto circa il loro fine settimana.

Romain Febvre: “Sono davvero felice di aver vinto il mio secondo GP di fila ed è grande per la squadra e per la Yamaha al loro 60° anniversario. E ‘stato sicuramente bello. La prima manche è stata piuttosto buona. Ho fatto una buona partenza ed ero secondo ma dopo due o tre giri ero in vantaggio. E ‘stato abbastanza ottimo stare davanti. Nella seconda manche la partenza non è stata così buona ed era difficile passare. Con Simpson ci siamo toccati su un salto e ho dovuto cambiare la linea in modo rapido e ho fatto un errore. Ho avuto un brutto incidente; quindi ero felice già con questo GP che sono andato via illeso. Sono stato in grado di continuare a spingere per la vittoria del GP. Il mio manubrio era molto piegato ed era difficile per le curve a destra e mettere fuori la gamba. Non avevo il freno anteriore quindi potete immaginare quanto siano difficili le discese su questa pista. Dopo l’incidente l’obiettivo principale era quello di vincere ancora il GP così ho continuato a spingere fino alla fine e questo ha pagato. ”
Kevin Strijbos: “Sono stato felice di essere di nuovo qui e tutto è andato bene in gara. Sono stato ‘un pò fortunato che ha piovuto perché mi piace molto questo tipo di condizioni. Ho commesso un errore nella prima gara ma ha avuto un grande inizio nella seconda. E ‘stato difficile prendere Max e passarlo anche. Ho trovato un buon posto, ma ero in attesa fino all’ultimo giro. Volevo superarlo in sicurezza perché è il leader del campionato, mentre io sono solo in rientro. Comunque, ero felice per il passaggio e anche per la vittoria di manche. Un grande grazie al team; hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro e sono felice per loro. Cercheremo di fare del nostro meglio in Germania ed entrare nella top-five o intorno al podio.
Todd Waters: “Questo è un grande risultato per me e per la squadra. Abbiamo lavorato molto duramente durante le due settimane prima di questa gara, e credo che questo ha pagato. Mi piace correre nel fango, le condizioni di certo non mi hanno facilitato. Finire terzo in classifica generale è una sensazione incredibile. Mi sentivo bene tutta la gara nella prima manche. Mi sono trasferito da settimo o ottavo al quarto posto, era buono. Ma mi sentivo come se dovevo fare meglio con il modo in cui correvo. Volevo di più dalla seconda manche, ed ero terzo quando ho fatto un errore e sono caduto. La squadra mi ha comunicato che un podio era alla mia portata, mancava molta strada per la gara, così mi sono concentrato per questo. Ho dato tutto per ottenere il terzo, è incredibile. Devo dire grazie al team e ai miei meccanici, è impressionante. ”

Tim Gajser: E ‘solo una grande emozione, sono contento di questo e la squadra è felice, abbiamo avuto due gare consistenti, prima gara terzo e un secondo in gara 2 dove la pista era davvero difficile e non facile per superare. La partenza è stata fondamentale e ho preso due buone partenze ed è stato bello vincere un altro Gran Premio. In realtà dopo Arco ho avuto qualche caduta e non guidavo bene per segnare buoni punti, ma in Francia è cambiato e ho guidato bene lì e ora di nuovo a Maggiora ho guidato bene.
Jeffrey Herlings: “Abbiamo fatto un buon lavoro il Sabato e abbiamo vinto la qualifica ma mi sono incasinato un po ‘all’inizio della prima manche di oggi. Ho sentito alcuni dei ragazzi che mi hanno bloccato e mi è arrivata un sacco di acqua nei miei occhiali e la visione era davvero pessima. Siamo comunque riusciti a prendere il sesto posto, anche se abbiamo avuto qualche problema alla moto alla fine della gara, ma per fortuna siamo riusciti a finire. Ho fatto una buona partenza nella seconda gara. Ho avuto l’holeshot e ho condotto tutta la strada fino al traguardo. Ho un buon vantaggio nei punti e alcune delle miei piste preferite stanno arrivando nella seconda metà della stagione. Ma non è finita finché non è finita, come abbiamo visto l’anno scorso. ”
Jeremy Seewer: “Ho avuto un buon feeling con la pista di Sabato, il motore e le sospensioni stavano lavorando così bene e mi ha dato fiducia. Avevamo una pista diversa oggi! Ho messo un sacco di attenzione in partenza perché sul giro di ricognizione ho visto che c’era in gran parte del circuito una linea sola e sarebbe stato difficile passare. Sono riuscito a ottenere una buona partenza, ma mi è arrivato un blocco di fango sugli occhiali e ha dovuto buttarli via. Ero quarto e limitato gli errori. C’è stato un grande divario davanti e anche dietro di me così ho provato a correre tranquillo. La seconda gara è stata un po ‘pazza, perché Tonkov mi ha spinto fuori nel fango profondo alla prima curva. Ho perso un sacco di posizioni immediatamente. Ho fatto alcuni sorpassi e due ragazzi sono caduto davanti a me. Alla fine c’è stata una grande battaglia con Max Anstie, ma ho potuto finire terzo e fatto il giro più veloce proprio alla fine. E ‘stata una gara cool e il ritmo era alto quindi sono felice di questo “.

Antonio Cairoli: “E ‘stato un weekend molto difficile perché era il mio GP di casa. Il polso era molto doloroso e la pista era molto tosta con molte buche, quindi non era facile con il mio polso in questa condizione. Nella prima gara ho iniziato terzo e ho cercato di stare con i ragazzi, ma ho finito settimo. Ma nella seconda manche mi sentivo male e il mio polso non reggeva più come il gomito che era molto doloroso. Ho solo cercato di andare a fare qualcosa e se riuscivo a prendere più punti possibili. Questa settimana cercherò di fare un trattamento intensivo e spero di sentirmi meglio la prossima settimana “.
Pauls Jonass: “Ho fatto abbastanza buone partenze oggi, ero quarto in moto uno ma era così fangoso che ho usato tutte il mio tear-off nei primi quattro giri. Ho preso il quinto posto e ho cercato di passare Seewer che aveva un incidente stupido. Poi sono caduto di nuovo e abbiamo dovuto fare un pit stop per cambiare i miei occhiali, ma ho ancora raccolto cinque punti per il campionato. Ho avuto una buona partenza nella seconda gara. Ero terzo, poi secondo dietro Jeffrey. Poi in salita ho colpito qualcosa e sono caduto. Poi Tonkov si è schiantato su me nella lunga curva dopo il traguardo. Ero tornato finalmente e ho finito dodicesimo. La mia guida non era così male, ma i miei risultati non erano dei migliori. ”
Davy Pootjes: “Ieri ho mostrato una buona velocità in qualifica, ma oggi non è andata così bene nella prima manche e sono caduto due volte. Sono caduto all’inizio della seconda manche, ma sono tornato dal trentunesimo al sedici quindi la mia velocità era abbastanza buona, quindi sono felice di questo. ”
Ken De Dycker: “Oggi c’era molta acqua in pista e una sola linea che è stato davvero duro e irregolare, quindi era difficile. Sono caduto all’inizio della prima manche ed è stato difficile tornare. Non ho avuto una buona partenza nella seconda gara. Ho passato alcuni ragazzi. Penso che non ho perso così tanto tempo sui ragazzi davanti e dietro di me, ma spero che la prossima settimana sarà asciutto il GP. Se ho una buona partenza posso guidare con i ragazzi migliori. ”
Max Nagl: “Sono deluso perché avrei ottenuto risultati migliori in entrambe le gare. Nella prima manche ho rischiato di cadere alla partenza. Il mio cancello è sceso ok, ma poi è rimbalzato in su. Ero circa 10 ° senza troppi problemi, ma che non era dove volevo essere. Poi mi sono preso con Bobryshev e sono dovuto passare nella Pit lane per cambiare i miei occhiali e sistemare la mia moto. Penso di essere stato lì per circa 25 secondi. 15° non era il risultato che speravo. Ho usato una postazione diversa per la seconda manche e ho ottenuto una grande partenza, e ho condotto la gara. Aleksandr Tonkov: “Certo che ottenere la mia prima vittoria di manche nei GP è una sensazione fantastica. E ‘stato un GP impegnativo, ma mi sento bene e nella prima gara ho guidato bene. Sono partito bene, avevo un grosso vantaggio a un certo punto, e ho controllato la gara come avrei voluto. Era davvero facile commettere errori, ma non ne ho fatti, sono rimasto soddisfatto. Ottenere la vittoria è stato grande. Nella seconda manche qualcuno ha tagliato la mia linea alla prima curva e mi ha portato nel fango. Ero abbastanza arrabbiato perché la partenza era mia. Ho spinto ed alla fine mi sono attaccato con Jonass. Mi dispiace per il passaggio, è stato un mio errore che ci ha portato entrambi giù. Ho avuto più trazione di quanto mi aspettassi e sono entrato in curva troppo veloce. Dopo di che, con il fango sulle mani, era difficile. Ma il campionato è molto vicino ora, sono solo a pochi punti dalla seconda posizione. Abbiamo fatto alcuni buoni miglioramenti e spero di poter mantenere le cose nel modo giusto in Germania il prossimo fine settimana “.
Max Anstie: ” Venendo da tutto esterno all’inizio per come ho finito la gara di qualifica non mi ha aiutato, ma è quello che è ed è stato bello avere una gara fangosa. La prima gara è stata difficile perché ero così indietro al via, ma la seconda era meglio; la mia partenza è stata meglio e sono stato in grado di fare alcuni passaggi e segnare alcuni buoni giri. La pista era scivolosa ma cool, di sicuro era meglio il Sabato, c’era soprattutto una linea in più di oggi, così la chiave è stata quella di essere intelligenti e non commettere errori stupidi. ”
David Philippaerts: “C’erano più linee in pista oggi ed era molto meglio. La pioggia ha aiutato. Ho avuto un ottima prima manche. L’holeshot, e quando Febvre era dietro di me ho dovuto rallentare un po ‘, perché non potevo andare a quella velocità, ma mi sentivo bene ed ero molto contento del secondo posto. La mia partenza nella seconda manche era buona, ma non come la prima. Ho avuto un po ‘di pressione e sapevo che ero vicino al podio. Lo abbiamo perso per poco, ma sono contento perché i tifosi hanno apprezzato il lavoro che abbiamo fatto. Spero che si possa mantenere questa forma nelle prossime gare. ”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “Più sfortuna ed è un peccato perché oggi avrei potuto facilmente essere sul podio. Ho avuto un inizio impressionante nella seconda manche e Bobryshev è venuto dritto su di me. Il mio manubrio era nella sua ruota posteriore. Era piegato, la frizione pure. Ho guidato una gara impressionante per tornare da dietro. Avevo bisogno di altri cinque minuti in più! Stiamo andando nella giusta direzione e tutti possono vedere questo. Mi sento bene ed i risultati stanno tornando. Quinto nel complesso non è male e noi continuiamo a lavorare. Insieme alla squadra abbiamo fatto un grande passo in questo fine settimana e abbiamo avuto alcune cose nuove sulla moto che stanno spingendo per aiutarmi il più possibile. Sono davvero grato. Sarò presto sul podio, questo è sicuro. ”
Shaun Simpson: “Non posso essere deluso. Un altro risultato quinto e sesto e più solide. Sesto generale era un po ‘frustrante perché sto cercando le posizioni nei primi cinque. Mi aspettavo un po ‘più da me oggi e le mie partenze mi hanno deluso. Sono stato spinto fuori nella prima partenza, ma non ho sofferto troppo e poi con il cancello che rimbalza male nella seconda manche non ha aiutato affatto. Sentivo che se avessi potuto partire meglio avrei fatto meglio. I miei tempi sul giro hanno dimostrato che la mia velocità c’era per stare davanti. E ‘stato difficile passare e se avessi raggiunto Philippaerts o Todd Waters un po’ prima allora sarebbe stato in grado di spingere su Paulin. Era bello venire da dietro, soprattutto nella prima gara quando sono andato giù e tornato dalla dodicesima. Mi sentivo come se stavo andando bene. Al primo giro mi sono fermato ai box per cambiarli e poi ho avuto un piccolo incidente e quindi era una manche veramente difficile per me, ma sono riuscito a finire e ottenere punti e il gioco è fatto. Nella seconda manche sono arrivato terzo e questo non è male, ma ero alla ricerca di molto meglio da questo fine settimana. ”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “E ‘stata una giornata molto difficile oggi. Ieri ho avuto veramente una buona velocità e oggi tutto era davvero un disastro. La pioggia cadeva pesantemente questa mattina e quindi abbiamo avuto davvero pessime condizioni in pista. Nella prima gara ero in nona e poi in ottava ma era come un trenino uno dietro l’altro e non si poteva spingere o passare. Nella seconda gara ho avuto una buona partenza ed ero sulla parte interna, ma poi qualcuno mi ha colpito dal lato destro e ha colpito la mia gamba e la sua moto si è bloccata nella mia ruota. Non potevo andare avanti fino a quando non abbiamo separato le moto, quindi la gamba mi faceva male durante la guida. Farò un esame nel corso della settimana per vedere cosa sta succedendo alla mia gamba. Al momento c’è un grande ematoma, ma penso che sia niente di veramente grave, almeno spero. ”
Petar Petrov: “Ho avuto una pessima partenza nella prima gara ed ero circa ottavo, poi sono passato in settima posizione dietro Herlings prima di cadere; Ho perso molti posti, ma poi ho spinto fino all’ultimo giro. La mia partenza è stata migliore nella seconda gara, ma la pista si stava asciugando con principalmente una sola linea e non ho potuto tornare dove volevo essere. La velocità è lì, ma nel complesso non sono molto contento dei risultati; è necessario avere una buona partenza per ottenere buoni risultati, e purtroppo non mi sono qualificato così bene, in più Seewer è caduto davanti a me e io lo colpì. Ma la mia fiducia va sempre meglio e non vedo l’ora del prossimo fine settimana “.
Jordi Tixier: “Ho avuto una buona partenza nella prima gara, e non ho preso alcun rischio, come la pista era difficile e scivolosa; è stata la chiave per ottenere un buon risultato. La mia seconda partenza non è stata buona e sono caduto alla prima curva, ma dopo tre giri ero già di nuovo in quattordicesima posizione fino a quando sono caduto in un salto. Thomas Covington: “Ho avuto una buona giornata Sabato, ero terzo nella gara di qualifica fino a quando Guillod si avvicinò all’interno e mi ha colpito piuttosto duramente. Tyla Rattray: “Il tempo è stato sicuramente un problema in questo fine settimana; ha reso la pista molto difficile da guidare. Mi ha colpito il cancello alla prima manche e ha reso la mia gara difficile, ma sono riuscito a tornare su abbastanza bene fino a quando sono caduto in cima a una collina e ho perso quattro minuti! Ho perso posizioni e un sacco di tempo. La pista era molto scivolosa, con zone difficili e pericolose e si doveva stare attenti. La seconda gara è stata migliore; Ero decimo fino a quando ho rotto il mio roll off quindi mi sono dovuto fermare ai box per prendere nuovi occhiali e ho finito in tredicesima. Abbiamo imparato alcune cose sulla moto questo fine settimana con queste condizioni. Era da un po’ che non guidavo su una pista del genere; non è stato davvero fangosa, ma era fango scivoloso. ”
Valentin Guillod: “Una giornata difficile, ma prenderò il lato positivo e che è ho guadagnato qualche punto. Con il mio infortunio al piede dovrei essere a casa sul divano. Sono venuto qui per cercare qualcosa di buono quando la pista era asciutta ma oggi avevo bisogno di un sacco di forza ed è stato davvero difficile. Ero quinto nella prima manche, ma poi ho commesso un errore sul rettilineo. Sono andato di traverso e di nuovo ero all’undicesimo. Nella seconda manche ho fatto un bel salto fuori dal cancello, ma Jeffrey ha tagliato la linea e mi ha spinto e ho dovuto frenare. Ero in 20° posizione. Era difficile da guidare, ma sono tornato all’undicesimo quando con due giri dalla fine sono caduto di nuovo. Possiamo solo sperare di meglio in Germania. ”
Julien Lieber: “Non era il mio giorno migliore, ma non è stato nemmeno troppo male. Ero coerente per rimontare da due brutte partenze. La mia velocità era OK nella prima manche ed ero dietro Jeffrey tutta la strada fino a quando ho fatto un errore e ho perso una posizione. Nella seconda manche ho passato un sacco di piloti, ma poi mi sono ritrovato a fare un sacco di errori e ho perso un sacco di tempo. Tonkov mi ha toccato all’ultimo giro. La pista era piuttosto scivolosa e non sono le mie condizioni preferite, ma è stato lo stesso per tutti. Lavorerò ora per la prossima settimana e non si deve mollare “.

Romain Febvre: “I’m really happy to win my second GP in a row and it is great for the team and for Yamaha on their 60th anniversary. It was definitely nice. The first moto was pretty good. I made a good start and was second but after two or three laps I was in the lead. It was pretty easy to be at the front. In the second moto the start was not so good and it was hard to pass. With Simpson we came together on a jump and I had to change the line quickly and made a mistake. I had a huge crash; so I was happy already with this GP that I could come away uninjured. I was able to keep pushing for the GP victory. My handlebar was very bent and it was hard on the right hand corners to put my leg out. I had no front brake so you can imagine how difficult the downhill was on this track. After the crash the main focus was to still win the GP so I kept pushing until the end and it paid off.”
Kevin Strijbos: “I was happy to be back here and everything went fine in the race. I was ‘kinda lucky that it rained because I like those kind of conditions a lot. I made a mistake in the first race but had a great start in the second. It was difficult to catch Max and also to pass. I found a good spot but I was waiting until the last lap. I wanted to pass him safely because he’s the championship leader whereas I’m just coming back. Anyway, I was happy about the pass and also the win. A big thanks to the team; they did a great job and I’m happy for them. We will try to do our best in Germany and get in the top-five and around the podium.”
Todd Waters: “This is a huge result for me and the team. We worked really hard during the two weeks prior to this race, and I guess it paid off. I love racing in the mud, the conditions certainly didn’t faze me. To finish third overall is an amazing feeling. I felt good all the way through the first moto. I moved up from seventh or eighth to fourth, which was good. But I felt like I should have done better with the way I was racing. I wanted more from the second moto, and was third when I dropped it. The team told me a podium result was on about three quarters of the way though the race, so I went for it. I gave it everything and to get third is amazing. I have to say thanks to the team and my mechanics, it’s awesome.”

Tim Gajser: It is just a great feeling I am happy about that and the team is happy, we had two consistent races, first race third and second race the track was really difficult and not easy to overtake. The start was key and I took two good starts and it was great to win another Grand Prix. Actually after Arco I had some crashed and wasn’t riding well and not scoring good points, but in France it changed and I rode well there and now again in Maggiora I rode well.
Jeffrey Herlings: “We did a good job on Saturday and we won the qualifying but I got messed up a bit at the start of the first moto today. I felt some of the guys cut me off and I got a lot of water in my goggles and my vision was really bad. We still managed to finished sixth although we had some bike problems at the end of the race, but luckily we could finish. I got a good start in the second race. I got the holeshot and led all the way to the finish. I have a good lead in the points and some of my favorite tracks are coming up in the second half of the season. But it ain’t over until it’s over, as we saw last year.”
Jeremy Seewer: “I had a good feeling on the track from Saturday and my engine and suspension were working so well and gave me confidence. We had a different track today! I put a lot of focus into the start because on the sighting lap I saw there was largely one line and it would be difficult to pass. I managed to get a good one but still took a load of mud on the goggles and had to throw them away. I stayed fourth and limited the mistakes. There was a big gap in front and also behind me so I tried to ride smooth. The second race was a bit crazy because Tonkov pushed me out into the deep mud on the first corner. I lost a lot of positions straight away. I made some passes and two guys crashed out in front of me. In the end it was a big battle with Max Anstie but I could still finish third and made my fastest lap right at the end. It was a cool race and the pace was high so I was happy with that.”
Antonio Cairoli: “It was a very difficult weekend as it was my home GP and got more difficult after my crash in Qualifying. Today my wrist was very painful and the track was rutted and with many bumps so it was not easy with my wrist in this condition. In the first race I started third and tried to stay with the guys but I finished seventh. But in the second race I was feeling bad and my wrist was not holding anymore and my elbow was very painful. I just tried to ride to see if I could get some points. This week I will try to get some intensive treatment and hopefully I will be feeling better next week.”
Max Anstie: “Coming from the outside of the start as I didn’t finish the qualifying race didn’t help me, but it is what it is and it was nice to have a mud race. The first race was difficult as I was so far back at the start, but the second one was better; my start was better and I was able to make some passes and put some good laps. The track was slippery but cool, for sure it was better on Saturday as there was mainly one line today, so the key was to be smart and not make any silly mistakes.”
Pauls Jonass: “I had pretty good starts today, I was fourth in the fist moto but it was so muddy that I used all my tear-offs in the first four corners. I got to fifth place and tried to pass Seewer and had a silly crash. Then I crashed again and had to make a pit stop to change my goggles but I still picked up five points for the championship. I had a pretty good start in the second race. I was third, then second behind Jeffrey. Then uphill I hit neutral and crashed with Gajser. Then Tonkov crashed into me in the long corner after the finish line. I was back at last and I finished twelfth. My riding was not so bad, but my results were not the best.”
Davy Pootjes: “Yesterday I showed good speed in qualifying but today I didn’t go so well in the first moto and I crashed twice. I crashed at the start of the second moto but I came back from thirty-first to sixteen so my speed was pretty good, so I’m happy about that.”
Ken De Dycker: “Today there was a lot of water on the track and only one line that was really deep and bumpy, so it was difficult. I crashed at the start of the first moto and it was difficult to come back. I didn’t have a good start in the second race. I passed some guys. I think I didn’t lose so much time on the guys in front and behind me but hopefully next weekend it will be dry. If I have good starts I can ride with the top guys.”
Max Nagl: “I’m disappointed because I should have got better results in both races. In the first moto I almost crashed at the start. My gate dropped ok, but then bounced back up as I went. I got up to about 10th without too many problems but that wasn’t where I wanted to be. Then I got taken out by Bobryshev. I had to come into the Pit area, change my goggles and get my bike worked on. I think I was there for around 25 seconds. 15th wasn’t the result I was hoping for. I used a different gate for the second moto and got a great jump, and lead the race. I lead all moto until the last lap, when I went off line in a corner and into the mud. I’m so disappointed because I should have won the race. But I will take all of this into my home GP next weekend.”
Aleksandr Tonkov: “Of course getting my first ever GP race win is a great feeling. It was a challenging GP, but I feel like in the first race I rode well. I started well, hand a big lead at one point, and controlled the race like I wanted. It was really easy to make mistakes but I didn’t make any, which I was pleased with. Getting the win was great. In the second moto someone clipped my right hand in the first turn and took me into the mud. I was pretty mad because the start was mine. I pushed hard and came together with Jonass. I feel bad about the pass, it was my mistake that took us both down. I got way more traction than I was expecting and came into the corner too fast. After that, with mud on my hands, it was hard. But the championship is really close now, I’m only a few points from second. We have made some good improvements and I hope I can keep things going in a good way in Germany next weekend.”
David Philippaerts: “There were more lines on the track today and it was much better. The rain helped. I had a really good first moto. The holeshot, and when Febvre was behind me I had to slow down a bit because I could not go that speed but I felt good and was very happy with second place. My start in the second moto was good but not like the first. I had some pressure and I knew I was close to the podium. We just missed it, but I’m happy because the fans enjoyed the job we did. I hope we can keep up this form in the next races.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “More bad luck and it is a pity because today I could have easily been on the podium. I had an awesome start in the second moto and Bobryshev went straight into me. My handlebar was in his rear wheel. It was bent, the clutch too. I rode an awesome race afterwards to come from the back. I needed another five minutes in the moto! We are heading in a good direction and everyone can see this. I feel good and the results are coming back. Fifth overall is not too bad and we will keep working. Together with the team we made a great step this weekend and we had some new things on the bike and they are pushing to help me as much as possible. I’m really thankful. I will be soon on the box, that’s for sure.”
Shaun Simpson: “I cannot be disappointed. Another fifth and sixth and more solid results. Sixth overall was a bit frustrating as I am looking for those overall positions in the top five. I was expecting a bit more of myself today and my starts did let me down. I got squeezed out in the first one but I didn’t suffer too badly and then with my gate bouncing in the second moto that didn’t help at all. I felt that if I could have gotten away then I would have done some damage. My lap-times showed that my speed was there to run at the front. It was difficult to pass and if I had got Philippaerts or Todd Waters a bit earlier then I might have been able to push on to Paulin. It felt good to come from behind and charge through, especially in the first race when I went down and was back in twelfth. I felt like I was riding well. You could say that it was a bit like a lottery today but it was fun. Some of the lines developed and there were different choices; the racing was good.”
Gautier Paulin: “In the first moto the start was ok but then I struggled with my goggles in the first corner. I was around eighth and in the middle just getting mud, mud, mud from everywhere so then I had to take them off. On the first lap I stopped in the pits to change them and then had a small crash so it was a really hard moto for me but I was able to finish and get points and that’s it. In the second moto I finished third and that’s ok but I was looking for much better again from this weekend.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “It’s been a really tough day today. Yesterday I had really good speed and today everything was really turned upside down. The rain was so hard this morning so we had really bad conditions on track. In the first race I was in ninth and then got to eighth but it was like a train behind each other and you couldn’t push or pass. In the second race I had a really good start and was up on the inside but then someone really impacted me from the right side and hit my leg and his bike stuck in my bike wheel. I couldn’t move forward until we got the bikes separated, and then my leg was hurting during riding. I had to do now an exam during the week to see what’s happening with my leg. At the moment there’s a big haematoma, but I think nothing really serious which I’m thankful for.”
Petar Petrov: “ I had a really bad start in the first race and was around nineteenth but I came back to seventh behind Herlings before I crashed; I lost several places but caught back to him again and tried to pass him on the last lap. My start was better in the second race but the track was drying up with mainly only one line so I couldn’t come back where I want to be. The speed is there but overall I’m not really happy with the results; you need to have a good start to get good results, and unfortunately I didn’t qualify so well as Seewer crashed in front of me and I hit him. But my confidence is getting better and better and I’m looking forward to next weekend.”
Jordi Tixier: “ I got a good start in the first race, and didn’t take any risks as the track was tricky and slippery; that was the key to get a good result. My second start was not as good and I crashed in the first corner, but after three laps I was already back in fourteenth position until I crashed on a jump. It was a big crash and I had to stop in the pits to repair the bike; my wrist was painful and I just missed scoring points by one position.“
Thomas Covington: “ I had a good day on Saturday as I was third in the qualifying race until Guillod came up the inside and hit me pretty hard. That meant I was twenty-seventh on the grid. I took some risks to try to get a good start but didn’t pay; that’s mud racing. My shoulder didn’t bother me this weekend, I’m sure it will even be better next weekend in Germany.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “I’ve felt really good on my bike the last few weeks and we can see that the speed is there; yesterday I was fifth. There was a lot of rain this morning but I got a decent start in the first moto before I crashed by myself on the start straight. It was difficult to come back and I was struggling quite a lot. In the second moto I pushed hard at the start and was around seventh. I crashed on the hill because someone went down in front of me. The speed and riding was a lot better. I’m disappointed about the results and this is not where I want to be.”
Tyla Rattray: “ The weather was definitely a problem this weekend; it made the track very difficult to ride. I hit the gate at the first start and it made my race difficult but I managed to come back pretty good until I crashed at the top of a hill and lost four minutes in a single lap! I lost positions and a lot of time. The track was very slippery with sketchy and dangerous areas and you had to be careful. The second race was better; I was tenth until I broke my roll off so I had to stop in the pits to get new goggles and finished thirteenth. We learnt some stuff on the bike this weekend in these conditions. It’s been a while since I rode on such a track; it was not really muddy, but it was slippery mud.”
Valentin Guillod: “A difficult day but I will take the positive side and that is I gained some points. With my foot injury I should be at home on the sofa. I came here to try and yesterday was good when the track was dry but today I needed a lot of strength and it was really difficult. I was fifth in the first moto but then I made a mistake on the straight. I went sideways and back to eleventh. In the second moto I made a good jump out of the gate but Jeffrey crossed my line and pushed me and I had to brake. I was in twentieth. It was hard to ride but I got back to eleventh when with two laps to go I crashed again. We can only hope for better in Germany.”
Julien Lieber: “It wasn’t my best day but not too bad. I was consistent to come back from two bad starts. My speed was OK in the first moto and I was behind Jeffrey all the way until I made a mistake and lost one position. In the second moto I passed a lot of riders but then found myself making a lot of mistakes and lost a lot of time. Tonkov got me on the last lap. The track was pretty slippery and not my favourite conditions but it was the same to deal with for everybody. I will work now for next week and not give up.”
