FIM Motocross World Championship – MX1 / MX2

MAGGIORA (Italia), 10 GIU 2015 – Maggiora è in attesa per il pandemonio che ci attende il prossimo fine settimana con la nona prova che si terrà il Campionato del Mondo FIM Motocross, MXGP d’Italia.

Come il nono round dei diciotto totali, questo grande luogo è il fulcro della stagione più emozionante di motocross. Mentre il tracciato risale al 1966 con il suo primo gran premio del FIM Motocross World Championship in quell’anno, in realtà è più famoso per il FIM Motocross delle Nazioni 1986 in cui il Team USA ha vinto con il loro “dream team” composto da Ricky Johnson, David Bailey e Johnny O’Mara. Il 1986 Motocross delle Nazioni colpisce il cuore di molti appassionati di motocross, il che rende il GP d’Italia l’omaggio a quella straordinaria manifestazione con un sacco di team e piloti che adotteranno temi retrò.

C’è l’aggiunta all’azione in questo fine settimana, la settima prova del Campionato Europeo EMX125 con lo spagnolo Jorge Prado che apre la strada, così come il terzo turno del EMX300 con belga Yentel Martens come il front runner.

Un altro circuito duro asfaltato(così riporta il comunicato n.d.r.) e molto elevata potrebbe favorire il nuovo ragazzo del gruppo, il meritevole vincitore del MXGP di Francia Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube Romain Febvre. Febvre sta ovviamente lavorando sodo e bene con il suo team di italiani e rischiano di fare qualcosa di speciale qui a Maggiora per il loro Gran Premio di casa.

Nonostante sia una delle più belle piste del mondo, Maggiora è rimasta spenta per ben quattordici anni prima di ripartire nel 2013. Quando finalmente tornò, era il pilota del Team HRC Gautier Paulin che quel giorno portò scompiglio con una vittoria di misura sopra il favorito Antonio Cairoli. In questa stagione stiamo ancora aspettando GP21 che venga fuori dal suo guscio e sfidi per le vittorie (anche se ha già vinto a Valkenswaard con doppietta n.d.r.), mentre la sorpresa sta nel suo compagno di squadra Evgeny Bobryshev che sembra aver trovato la sua strada verso il sul gradino più alto.

Il pubblico è stato entusiasmante lo scorso anno, quando Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Antonio Cairoli ha preso una delle vittorie più belle della storia. Non avevamo mai visto una folla pompati per il loro eroe come lo erano per Tony quel giorno e con Tony che quest’anno cerca più che mai di abbattere i punti sul capolista Max Nagl, potremmo essere dentro per un altro “impressionante vittoria per l’eroe Italiano”, la situazione c’è.

Per quanto riguarda la tabella rossa Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing Max Nagl, ha ancora le maggior vittorie in MXGP quest’anno e continua a guidare in maniera intelligente e coerente. Con la Germania che sarà il prossimo appuntamento del FIM Motocross World Championship dopo Maggiora in questo fine settimana, sarebbe fantastico se Max potesse tenere ancora la tabella rossa per i suoi tifosi di casa.

In termini di piloti locali, sarà un evento divertente e emozionante per di DP19 Racing Yamaha David Philippaerts, così come il TM Racing Factory Team Davide Guarneri che potrebbe fare il suo ritorno dopo la commozione cerebrale subita a Matterley Basin. A completare gli italiani in MXGP c’è dal Team Honda Assomotor Alessandro Lupino.

Dal momento del ritorno nel calendario, dopo quattordici anni di assenza, Maggiora è stata buona con The Bullet Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings che ha dominato la classe MX2 gli ultimi due anni. Herlings, come sempre, sarà una scommessa sicura per la vittoria, anche se sappiamo che non è mai un dato sicuro.

Questo fine settimana dipenderà da Honda Gariboldi Tim Gajser s ‘roller coaster model. Quando gli tocca gli tocca! Ma con alti e bassi lo sloveno deve solo imparare quello che può e godersi il viaggio.

Nel frattempo Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team Jordi Tixier sta facendo esattamente quello che ha fatto l’anno scorso quando ha vinto il titolo mondiale FIM Motocross MX2. Coerenza. Coerenza. Coerenza. Ancora un podio cercherà il francese per la sesta volta consecutiva.

Se qualcuno può sfidare Jeffrey in questo GP è Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube Valentin Guillod. Guillod è stato la ventata di aria fresca per la MX2 quest’anno, quindi ci auguriamo che egli porti stile fiammeggiante e la velocità fenomenale a Maggiora questo fine settimana!

MXGP HEADS FOR MAGGIORA

MAGGIORA (Italy), 10 June 2015 – Maggiora park is used to the kind of pandemonium that lies ahead this coming weekend with the ninth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, MXGP of Italy set to take place. As the ninth round of eighteen, this grand venue is the centerpiece of the most thrilling season of motocross ever. While the track dates way back to 1966 with its first ever round of the FIM Motocross World Championship taking place in that year, it is actually most famous for the 1986 FIM Motocross of Nationswhere team USA won with their “dream team” Ricky Johnson, David Bailey and Johnny O’Mara. The 1986 Motocross of Nations hits a soft spot for many motocross enthusiasts, which makes MXGP of Italy the tribute to that amazing event with a lot of the teams and riders running retro themes. Also adding to the action this weekend, the seventh round of the European Championship EMX125 will take place with Spaniard Jorge Prado leading the way, as will the third round of the EMX300 with Belgian Yentel Martens as the front runner.   Another hard surfaced and heavily elevated circuit could work in favor of the new kid on the block, the deserving MXGP of France winner Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube’s Romain Febvre. Febvre is obviously working hard and well with his Italian based team who are likely to do something special here in Maggiora for their home grand prix. Despite being one of the most magnificent tracks in the world, Maggiora was off the calendar for a good fourteen years before retuning in 2013. When it finally returned, it was Team HRC’s Gautier Paulin causing the upset that day with a narrow victory over the favorite Antonio Cairoli. This season we are still waiting for GP21 to come out of his shell and challenge for race wins, while the surprise lies in his teammate Evgeny Bobryshev who appears to be working his way toward the to the top step. The bar for crowd enthusiasm was set last year when Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli took one of the most hair-raising victories in history. We had never seen a crowd as pumped for their hero as they were for Tony that day and with Tony looking more focused than ever as he tries to chop down the points lead of Max Nagl, we could be in for another “home town hero impresses in Italy” situation. As for the red plate holder Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Nagl, he still has the most MXGP overall victories this year and continues to ride smart and consistent. With Germany being the next round of the FIM Motocross World Championship after Maggiora this weekend, it would be amazing if Max could hold onto the red plate for his home fans. In terms of the local riders, it will be a fun and exciting event for DP19 Racing Yamaha’s David Philippaerts, as well as TM Racing Factory Team’s Davide Guarneri who could be making his return after the concussion he suffered in Matterley Basin. Herlings, as always, will be a safe bet for the win, although we have come to learn that it is never a given. This weekend will be dependent on Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser’s roller coaster pattern. When it’s up, it’s up! But with every up is a down and the Slovenian just has to learn what he can and enjoy the ride.
