Ecco quello che i piloti pensano del loro fine settimana in Italia, la pista di Pietramurata moto insidiosa ha regalato battaglie epiche. Un grande weekend per Husqvarna e Max Nagl e Honda e Tim Gajser.

Max Nagl: “E ‘stato un weekend fantastico, ma onestamente questa vittoria è il risultato di un altro grande lavoro di squadra. Durante il Sabato abbiamo fatto molti progressi con la messa a punto e mi sentivo molto meglio in pista. La mia partenza è stata buona per gara uno ed ero secondo alle spalle di Antonio per tutta la gara. Stavamo facendo una grande battaglia – mi sentivo più veloce in alcuni posti – ma non volevo correre il rischio per fare il sorpasso. Ero felice con la seconda. Quando ho preso l’holeshot in gara due ho deciso che era tempo d’andare. Ho dato il 100 per cento per i primi 10 minuti e ho tirato un divario per vincere. Mi piace guidare la mia moto e la squadra sta lavorando duramente per me – non posso ringraziarli abbastanza. E ‘stato anche speciale avere mio figlio qui a guardarmi correre per la prima volta. Oggi è stato perfetto. ”

Tony Cairoli: “La prima gara è stata molto buona, ma volevo vincere il primo GP per gli italiani qui. Ho cercato di tenere Max dietro di me, ma era una stretta gara tra noi quattro. Ho cercato di fare una buona partenza nella seconda gara, ma Max è stato più veloce e ha tirato fuori un bel distacco nei primi giri. Ho visto un sacco di incidenti durante la gara, la pista era molto discutibile ed era facile cadere, quindi non mi piace davvero. Non è una delle mie piste preferite, ma è stato meglio rispetto all’anno scorso. ”

Clement Desalle: “Ho avuto una brutta caduta in qualifica, ero felice di non essermi ferito, oggi è andata bene essere sul podio. Ho avuto una buona partenza nella prima manche e stavamo guidando ruota a ruota per un lungo periodo. Non potevo davvero trovare nessun punto o qualsiasi cosa per fare un passaggio senza rischiare. La seconda manche non era così male all’inizio, ma in qualche modo il mio stivale si è completamente aperto al primo giro e ho avuto una grossa pietra dentro. Ero terzo e poi ho commesso un errore e ho perso una posizione. Non è un cattivo risultato considerando quello che è successo sabato ed è stato bello prendere punti ed essere lì. La pista non era così buona e avere tante classi non ha aiutato. Dovevi prendere molti rischi per passare e la pista doveva essere sistemata un po ‘di più il sabato dopo le gare. In ogni caso ci metteremo sulla sabbia ora e cercheremo di godere del prossimo fine settimana “.

Tim Gajser: Non posso crederci, voglio ringraziare tutti i miei sponsor, la squadra, la mia famiglia e gli appassionati. Sentivo che Jeffrey stava arrivando in quella seconda manche e ho continuato a guardare avanti. Ero così felice di tagliare il traguardo per la vittoria, ora lavoro duro per farlo accadere più spesso il successo. So di avere la velocità.

Jeffrey Herlings: “La partenza non è stata buona nella seconda gara, ma nel complesso abbiamo avuto una buona Domenica. Abbiamo vinto le qualifiche il Sabato abbastanza facilmente. Ho avuto una brutta partenza nella seconda manche, ma ho lavorato la mia strada fino alla parte anteriore poi ho avuto un incidente stupido per colpa mia. Ho preso alcuni punti e non vedo l’ora del prossimo fine settimana. Non ero sicuro se avrei preso Gajser. Di sicuro avrei potuto essere vicino, ma, ovviamente, ha fatto un ottimo lavoro. Spero di poter prendere la vittoria a Valkenswaard davanti al mio pubblico di casa. Ho già vinto lì per cinque volte di fila. Ecco, questo è quello che ci auguriamo per il GP. ”

Jordi Tixier: “E ‘bello essere di nuovo sul podio dopo alcuni eventi difficili. La mia famiglia, la mia squadra e alcune altre persone mi hanno aiutato a recuperare dopo la Thailandia, ma ora sono tornato e questo fine settimana ho dimostrato con un podio risultato che ho ancora una forte motivazione. Di sicuro avrebbe potuto essere ancora meglio con due holeshots ma questo podio è un primo passo. Abbiamo fatto alcuni buoni test con la squadra per migliorare il nostro set-up; tutti hanno lavorato sodo e abbiamo ottenuto la ricompensa con questo podio. Terzo era la mia posizione in questo fine settimana; il grip è sempre strano qui e non volevo fare alcun errore “.

Romain Febvre: “Good GP! All’inizio del weekend ho faticato un po ‘con la pista. E ‘stato davvero difficile e molto scivoloso. Siamo stati qui negli ultimi due anni, ma non ricordavo fosse così scivoloso il tracciato. Sabato era abbastanza buono nella manche di qualifica e poi la Domenica abbiamo cambiato il pneumatico posteriore e la regolazione della forcella anteriore dopo la prima manche e ho avuto più fiducia. Nella prima manche ero quinto dietro a Desalle, quando ho fatto un errore e mi si è fermata la moto: ho perso tempo, una posizione da Paulin e poi ho perso un po ‘il ritmo. Non ero troppo soddisfatto. Ho avuto una buona partenza di nuovo nella seconda manche ed ero davanti fin dall’inizio. Ho fatto alcuni passaggi decenti ed ero dietro a Desalle per lungo tempo fino a che non ha fatto un errore. Mi è stato possibile arrivare dietro a Cairoli ero così vicino; su alcune parti della pista ero più veloce su e altri era così difficile avvicinarsi! E ‘stato un buon inizio di stagione e posso essere felice “.

Gautier Paulin: “La pista era molto difficile scivolosa e dura come il cemento, difficile da interpretare in modo giusto, le partenze erano davvero importanti. Ieri ho avuto una buona sensazione e un buon inizio in quarta e buon ritmo per lottare per la vittoria, ma oggi ho avuto due brutte partenze quindi dobbiamo davvero continuare a lavorare su questo. Se non si dispone di un buon inizio si paga, così oggi non è stato facile. Due primi cinque, sto combattendo al via con i piloti che normalmente non lotto così poi perdo tempo. Perché tutti avevano lo stesso tempo, il risultato complessivo del primo giro è abbastanza simile dell’arrivo al traguardo. Ho avuto davvero un buon tempo sul giro, ma non è sufficiente, senza la partenza buona era difficile oggi. ”

Glenn Coldenhoff: Alcuni buoni segni di questo fine settimana. Ho faticato molto il Sabato e ho avuto una brutta partenza, non guidavo abbastanza bene. Ho girato con due buone partenze e due buone manche. La seconda manche era in realtà migliore ero quinto penso, fino a quando ho avuto un piccolo incidente, in qualche modo si è infilato un chiodo nel piede. Dovevo entrare in pit-lane e ripartire dalla 30esima posizione. Così, la guida è migliorata ma i risultati non tanto. Questo è un anno di apprendimento ed è stato un errore da rookie. Ora si va a Valkenswaard, ho guidando molto nella sabbia. Mi sento in forma e bene quindi spero in un weekend positivo. ”

Ken de Dycker: “Questa settimana abbiamo fatto alcune modifiche alle sospensioni e la moto è ora molto più facile da guidare. Ho ancora un problema con la partenza, ma nonostante questo ho ancora una buona velocità anche se la pista era molto scivolosa. ”

Tommy Searle: “Ovviamente ho bisogno di capire quanto seriamente ero infortunato. Ero tenuto insieme dal tutore per quattro settimane e ho iniziato a fare esercizi una settimana fa, guidare la moto e poi venire qui con soli due giorni sulla moto. Sono felice di finire due gare e avere qualcosa su cui costruire. La pista era molto difficile. Mi sentivo meglio di quanto pensassi ed è bello essere qui con la squadra. ”

Dylan Ferrandis: “Questo fine settimana ero il quarto uomo su questa pista, uno dei peggiori che io conosco. Non è divertente correre qui, ho fatto del mio meglio per fare buoni punti e lasciare la pista  sano questa sera. Dobbiamo trovare il motivo per cui le mie partenze erano così brutte in questo fine settimana, ho anche avuto un piccolo incidente nella prima gara, ma nel complesso ho perso tredici punti da Herlings. Sapevo che questo weekend sarebbe stato difficile, e la prossima settimana sarà il suo GP di casa, ma so che su una pista di sabbia posso ottenere dei buoni risultati e andremo ad allenarci in Olanda questa settimana con la squadra. ”

Jeremy Van Horebeek: “Io non so come spiegare ciò che sta accadendo. Non sto spingendo oltre il limite, ma ancora mi succedono cose che mi portano a cadere, l’ho fatto di più in questi primi GP che negli ultimi anni! Io dico sempre che le cose girano, ma ho bisogno che accada presto, perché ci vuole tanto per guidare col dolore per tutto il tempo. Ho un piede dolorante e dovrò cercare di guarire per il prossimo fine settimana. ”

David Philippaerts: “Mi sento bene e ha avuto una grande seconda manche. Non ho capito perché i miei tempi sul giro sono stati così lontani all’inizio della prima gara così ho spinto all’ inizio della seconda. Ero nella top ten e passai Searle per raggiungere l’ottavo. Ho avuto un miserabile GP qui l’anno scorso con tre stop forzati ed è un posto speciale: molto duro. Quindi, una manche non così buona, ma l’altro molto meglio, così sono felice con la moto, perché funzionava così bene. Il mio team ed i miei meccanici hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro e abbiamo lavorato molto nelle ultime due settimane. Voglio concentrarmi per essere pilota invece di manager ora, perché abbiamo bisogno di migliorare i risultati e questo fine settimana era meglio dell’ Argentina di sicuro “.

Todd Waters: “E ‘stata una pista difficile da capire. Le condizioni erano molto spietate e difficili da giudicare. In gara due ho avuto una grande partenza – qualcosa su cui abbiamo lavorato duramente per migliorare e davvero ha aiutato. Anche se sono scivolato indietro al 11 è stato bello correre al sesto posto per qualche giro. Mi piacerebbe dire un grande grazie alla mia squadra, i miei meccanici e Antti per tutto il duro lavoro che stanno mettendo insieme. ”

Jeremy Seewer: “Tutti sanno che Arco è una pista speciale; Non sono sicuro se a molte persone piace! Per me è molto bello perché sono cresciuto in questo tipo di terreno e tutti gli spettatori a creare una bella atmosfera. Le mie partenze non erano buone in questo weekend e non so perché. Andavano bene nelle prime gare, ma non oggi quindi dovremo lavorare su questo. Ho dovuto combattere entrambe le volte. La mia velocità non era grande l’inizio della prima manche, ma quando ho trovato il mio ritmo i tempi sul giro erano molto buoni. Ero un po’ confuso con le linee all’inizio della seconda e tutti stavano andando al’impazzata! Ho passato un sacco di gente e raggiunto il settimo posto abbastanza rapidamente … poi c’è stata una dura battaglia con Paturel e Ferrandis. Ho anche perso la ruota posteriore prima del salto finale. Comunque sesto assoluto; era un posto dietro il mio obiettivo per oggi. ”

Pauls Jonass: “Ho faticato tutto il weekend per trovare il ritmo e non mi sentivo molto fiducioso su questa pista perché ieri un incidente, quando ho perso la ruota posteriore. Sono felice di essere a casa al sicuro e non vedo l’ora di Valkenswaard. ”

Max Anstie: “Abbiamo lavorato sodo e ottenuto inizi ottimi, ma ho bisogno di stabilire un ritmo più veloce. E ‘stato lo stesso, sia in gara di qualifica e la prima manche. Ero forte alla fine e avevo quasi preso Jordi per il terzo, ma avevo semplicemente dato troppo, molto dopo i primi giri. La mia partenza non è stata buona in gara due e ho passato tutta la gara al settimo. ”

Evgeny Bobryshev: “Oggi è stata una giornata difficile perché non abbiamo fatto buone partenze, che era così importante oggi. Ho faticato fuori dal cancello ed ero fuori dalla top venti nelle prime curve, poi su questo tipo di tracciato per ottenere rimonte è così difficile, e quindi i primi ragazzi sono andati. Nella seconda gara ho avuto una buona velocità, ma purtroppo abbiamo perso in partenza. Questi non sono i risultati che vogliamo, soprattutto dopo ieri, quando abbiamo visto che cosa possiamo fare, quindi abbiamo bisogno di continuare a lavorare. Tutti i ragazzi stanno lavorando duramente e possiamo vedere che si sta arrivando, ma dobbiamo continuare a lavorare. ”

Shaun Simpson: “E ‘un caso di trovare una pista completamente diversa oggi. Ieri mi sentivo grande, poter tirare su quei piloti davanti e il set up della moto ha lavorato molto bene. Oggi la mia sensazione è stata molto diversa e credo che tutte le gare e la mancanza della preparazione della pista significa avere meno grip. Non riuscivo a trovare feeling; assenza di trazione con il pneumatico posteriore. Ho provato un paio di cose per la seconda gara, ma non c’era troppo miglioramento. Ho faticato a passare e forse non ero così aggressivo come alcuni degli altri ragazzi nella fase iniziale. Ho avuto la fortuna di finire decimo nella seconda. Non è stata una giornata disastrosa e soprattutto in confronto con i nove punti in Argentina. Ci siamo spostati in campionato e non vedo l’ora di alcune piste che saranno un po ‘di più per i miei gusti. ”

Tyla Rattray: “E ‘stato un weekend molto deludente per me. Nella gara di qualificazione ero tra i primi dodici quando un altro pilota mi ha colpito prima della fine del primo giro. Mi hanno colpito la testa piuttosto forte, insieme con la squadra si è deciso di prendersela comoda e di non correre oggi, ho avuto un forte mal di testa Sabato sera. Tornerò dal mio medico Lunedi e, se tutto è buono, ci prepareremo per Valkenswaard. ”

Here is what most of the leading riders thought of their weekend in Italy. A big weekend for Husqvarna and Max Nagl and Honda and Tim Gajser.

Max Nagl: “It’s been a great weekend but honestly this win is the result of yet another big team effort. During Saturday we made a lot of progress with the setup and I felt much more comfortable on the track. My start was good for race one and I was second behind Antonio for the whole race. We were having a great battle – I did feel faster in places – but I didn’t want to take the risk necessary to make the pass stick. I was happy with second. When I got the holeshot in race two I decided it was my time to go. I gave it 100 per cent for the first 10 minutes and pulled a gap to win. I love riding at the minute and the team are working so hard for me – I can’t thank them enough. It was also special to have my son here watch me race for the first time. Today was perfect.”

Tony Cairoli: “The first race was very good but I would like to win the first GP for the Italians here. I tried to keep Max behind me but it was a very close race between four of us. I tried to get a good start in the second race but Max was quicker and he just pulled away in the first laps. I saw a lot of crashes during the race, the track was very sketchy and it was easy to crash so I didn’t really like it. It’s not one of my better tracks but I was better this year than last.’’

Clement Desalle: “I had a big crash in qualification and was happy not to be injured so after that – and all of today – it is good to be on the podium. I had quite good start in the first moto and we were riding wheel-to-wheel for a long time. I couldn’t really find any cool things to do or to make any passes happen. The second moto was not so bad at the start again but somehow my boot came completely open on the first lap and I had a big stone come inside. I was third and then made a mistake by myself and lost a position. It is not a bad result considering what happened yesterday and it was good to take points and be up there. The track was not so good and having more classes on it did not help. You had to take many risks to pass and the track needed to be fixed a bit more last night. Anyway we will get in the sand now and try to enjoy it next weekend.”

Tim Gajser: I can’t believe it, I want to thank all my sponsors, the team, my family and fans. I could feel Jeffrey was coming in that second moto and I just keep looking forward. I was so happy to cross the finish line for the win, but now I work hard for more success. I know I have the speed.

Jeffrey Herlings: “The start was not good in the second race but overall we had a good Sunday. We won the qualifying on Saturday and the fist moto pretty easy. I had a really bad start in the second moto but I worked my way up to the front then I had a stupid crash that was my fault. I picked up some points so I look forward to next weekend. I am not sure I would have caught Gajser. For sure I could have been close but obviously he did a great job. Hopefully I can take the win in Valkenswaard in front of my home crowd. I’ve already won there five times in a row. So that’s what we are hoping for.”

Jordi Tixier: “It’s great to be back on the podium after some difficult events. My family, my team and some other people helped me to recover after Thailand, but now I’m back and this weekend I proved with a podium result that I still have a strong motivation. For sure it could have been even better with two holeshots but this podium is a first step. We did some good testing with the team to improve our set-up; everyone worked hard and we got the reward with this podium. Third was my position this weekend; the grip is always strange here and I didn’t want to make any mistake.”

Ken de Dycker: “This week we made some changes to the suspension and the bike is now much easier for me to ride. I still have a problem with the start, but despite that I still had a good speed even though the track was very slippery.”

Tommy Searle: “Obviously I need to realize how seriously I was injured. I was in a brace for four weeks and I started to exercise one week, ride the bike and then come here with just two days on the bike. I’m happy to finish two races and have something to build on. The track was very difficult. I felt better than I thought I would and it’s nice to be here with the team.”

Glenn Coldenhoff: Some good signs this weekend. I was struggling a lot on Saturday and had a bad start and was not riding smooth enough. I turned it around today with two good starts and two good motos. The second moto was actually better and I was running fifth I think until I had a small crash and somehow got a nail in my foot. I had to come into the pit-lane and restarted from 30th or something. So, riding was good but the results not so much. This is a learning year and it was a rookie mistake. Onto Valkenswaard now and I’ve been riding a lot in the sand. I feel fit and good so I’m hoping for a positive weekend.”

Gautier Paulin: “The track was really tricky – rough and hard like concrete and difficult to pass on so the starts were really important. Yesterday I had a really good feel and a good start – into fourth and good rhythm to fight for the lead, but today I had two bad starts so we need really to keep working on that. If you don’t have a good start you pay for it so today wasn’t easy. Two top five, but I’m fighting at the start with riders I’m not normally fighting with so then you lose time. Because everyone is in the same second, the overall result from the first lap is pretty similar to the finish line. I had really good laptime but it’s not enough without the start so it was tough today.”

Dylan Ferrandis: “This weekend I was the fourth man on this track, one of the worst that I know. I had no fun riding here, and I just did my best to take good points and leave the track safe this evening. We have to find why my starts were so bad this weekend, and I also had a small crash in the first race but overall I only dropped thirteen points to Herlings. I knew that this weekend would be difficult, and next week it will be his home GP but I know that on a sandy track I can get some good results and we’ll go training in Holland this week with the team.”

Romain Febvre: “Good GP! At the beginning of the weekend I struggled a little bit with the track. It was really hard and very slippery. We’ve been here the past two years but I don’t remember it being this slippery. Saturday was pretty good in the qualification heat and then on Sunday we changed the bike with another rear tyre and the front fork setting after the first moto and I had more confidence. In the first moto I was fifth behind Desalle when I made a mistake and stopped the bike: I lost time, a position to Paulin and then I lost some rhythm. I wasn’t too pleased with that. I had a good start again in the second moto and I was right at the front from the beginning. I made some decent passes and I was behind Desalle for a long time until he made a mistake. I was then catching Cairoli and got so close; on some parts of the track I was faster on and others he was so it was hard to get near…although I got very near on the last lap! It has been a nice start to the season and I could not be happier.”

Jeremy Van Horebeek: “I don’t know how to explain what is happening. I’m not pushing over the limit…but still I’m crashing, and I have done more so in these first GPs than the last few years! I keep telling myself that things will turn around but I need it to happen soon because it takes so much out of you when you have to ride in pain all the time. I have a sore left foot and will have to try and heal up for next weekend.”

David Philippaerts: “I feel good and had a great second moto. I didn’t understand why my lap-times were so ‘off’ at the beginning of the first race so I pushed hard in the start of the second. I stayed in the top ten and passed Searle to reach eighth. I had a miserable GP here last year with three crashes and it is a special place: very hard. So, one moto not so good but the other much better and I’m so happy with the bike because it was working so well. My team and my mechanics have done a great job and we have worked a lot in the last two weeks. I want to concentrate on being the ‘rider’ instead of the ‘manager’ now because we need to improve the results and this weekend was better than Argentina for sure.”

Todd Waters: “It was a hard track to grasp. The conditions were very unforgiving and difficult to judge. In race two I got a great start – something we’ve worked hard to improve on – and it really helped. Even though I slipped back to 11th it was good to race in sixth for a few laps. I’d like to give a big thanks to my team, Antti and my mechanics Ryan and Antonio for all the hard work they’ve been putting in.”

Jeremy Seewer: “Everybody knows that Arco is a special track; I’m not sure if many people like it! For me it is quite nice because I grew up on this type of dirt and all the spectators create a nice atmosphere. My starts were not good this weekend and I don’t know why. They were fine in the first few races but not today so we will have to work on that. I had to fight back both times. My speed was not great in the beginning of the first moto but when I found my rhythm then the lap-times were very good. It was a bit messy with the lines at the beginning of the second and everyone was taking each other’s! I passed a lot of people when we got going and reached seventh place quite quickly…then it was a tough battle with Paturel and Ferrandis. I just lost the rear wheel before the finish jump. Anyway sixth overall; it was one place behind my goal for today.”

Pauls Jonass: “I was struggling the whole weekend to find the rhythm and I didn’t feel very confident on this track because I had a crash yesterday when I lost the back wheel. I’m happy to be going home safe and I’m looking forward to Valkenswaard.”

Max Anstie: “We have worked hard and got the starts sorted now, but I need to settle into a rhythm quicker. It was the same in both the qualification race and the first moto. I was strong at the end and almost caught Jordi for third, but I had simply given myself too much to do after those early laps. My start was not so good in race two and I spent the entire race catching up to seventh.”

Evgeny Bobryshev:  “Today was a tough day because we didn’t make good starts, which was so important today. I was struggling out of the gate and was out of the top twenty in the first corners, and then on this kind of track to get through the pack it’s so tough, and then the top guys are just gone. In the second race I had good speed, but unfortunately we lost it at the start. These aren’t the results we want, especially after yesterday when we saw what we can do, so we just need to keep working. All the guys are working so hard and we can see that it’s coming, but we need to keep working.”

Tyla Rattray: “It’s been a very disappointing weekend for me. In the qualifying race I was in the top twelve when another rider hit me before the end of the first lap. I hit my head pretty strong, and together with the team it was decided to take it easy and not to race today as I had a strong headache Saturday evening. I’ll visit my doctor on Monday and, if everything is good, we’ll prepare for Valkenswaard.”
