Il pilota Honda Jens Getteman rimarrà in rosso il prossimo anno ed entra a far parte della squadra JTech Honda per contestare la categoria MX2 del Mondiale MXGP a bordo della CRF250R.

Per il 21enne belga, è un benvenuto, con la conclusione di un anno difficile. Jens è stato messo da parte per gran parte di questa stagione con un infortunio allo scafoide che originariamente è andato mal diagnosticato. Questo ha aggravato il problema quando ha cercato di fare il suo ritorno per il team Honda Racing 24MX con cui stava correndo sulla CRF450R nel 2014.

Avendo avuto una pausa forzata nei GP dal GP di Spagna a maggio, poco dopo ha avuto un intervento chirurgico allo scafoide, questa volta si assicurerà che sia completamente recuperato e in gran forma per la nuova sfida del prossimo anno.

“Sono davvero sorpreso per l’opportunità che ho avuto di guidare per JTech Honda in MX2 dopo gli ultimi due anni con tutte le mie ferite. Con il mio manager e allenatore abbiamo parlato molto a abbiamo deciso di guidare in MX2, e dopo aver parlato con il team e la Honda sono così felice di correre per loro il prossimo anno. Sono molto motivato perché voglio mostrare qualcosa; è importante per me e per la mia carriera.

“Ho guidato solo la MX2 una volta finora, ma inizierò a testare correttamente il mese prossimo. Sono davvero sorpreso dalla CRF250R però – ci si sente veramente bene. In principio era diverso che guidare la 450, quindi c’era un po ‘di apprendimento, ma stiamo andando a lavorare sodo questo inverno.

“Sono così motivato per tutto. Voglio essere il migliore. Forse non è sempre possibile, ma questo è ciò che è nella mia mente e quello per cui mi sto allenando. Sabato prossimo vado negli Stati Uniti per un po ‘di relax e anche per vedere il Monster Energy Cup, e poi quando torno farò una gara di tre ore a casa e poi vado in Italia per il test con la squadra e per essere pronto per la prossima stagione.

“Di sicuro la MX2 è molto competitiva come tutti i Young Guns, ma voglio dare il mio meglio e essere su di loro. Penso che dopo essere stato in MXGP mi dà il vantaggio di una maggiore esperienza. Voglio dimostrare qualcosa – io non voglio correre per le posizioni da 10 a 20, diciamo. Voglio essere nella top ten di sicuro. ”

Honda rider Jens Getteman will stay in red next year as he joins the JTech Honda squad to contest the MX2 category of the MXGP World Championship aboard the CRF250R.

For the 21 year-old Belgian, it’s a welcome conclusion to a tough year. Jens has been sidelined for much of this season with an injury to his scaphoid that originally went misdiagnosed. This compounded the issue when he tried to make his return for the 24MX Honda Racing team with whom he was racing on the CRF450R in 2014.

Having had an enforced hiatus from MXGP since the GP of Spain in May, shortly after which he had surgery on his scaphoid, he has used this time to ensure he is fully recovered and fighting fit for the new challenge of next year.

“I’m really surprised that I have the opportunity now to ride for JTech Honda in MX2 again after the last two years with all my injuries. With my manager and trainer we talked a lot to decide to ride in MX2, and after talking with the team and Honda I’m so happy that I’m riding for them next year. I’m really motivated because I want to show something; it’s important for me and for my career.

“I’ve only ridden the MX2 once so far, but I’ll start testing properly next month. I’m really surprised by the CRF250R bike though – it feels really good. In the beginning it was different to riding the 450 so there was a little bit of learning, but we’re going to work hard this winter.

“I’m so motivated for everything. I want to be the best. Maybe it’s not always possible, but this is what is in my mind and what I’m training for. Next Saturday I go to the USA for a bit of relaxing and also to watch the Monster Energy Cup, and then when I get back I’ll do a three-hour race at home and then I go to Italy for testing with the team and to get ready for next season.

“For sure MX2 is very competitive as you’re all together with young guns, but I want to give my best and be on top of it. I think having been in MXGP gives me the advantage of more experience. I want to prove something – I don’t want to ride for positions 10 to 20, let’s say. I want to be in the top ten for sure.”
