Saranno tre i piloti del team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MXGP nella stagione 2015: Pit Beirer, KTM Sports Manager, ha raggiunto un accordo con il pilota inglese Tommy Searle, che sarà dunque schierato al fianco di Antonio Cairoli, otto volte Campione del Mondo, e Ken De Dycker.

Searle, venticinquenne di Pembury, tre volte vice-campione del mondo MX2 (2007, 2008, 2012), e quattro volte sul podio iridato della MX2 (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012), entrerà a far parte del team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MXGP, vincitore delle ultime cinque edizioni del Mondiale MX1-MXGP, sotto la guida del Team Manager italiano Claudio De Carli. Searle ha già fatto parte del team ufficiale KTM MX2 dal 2006 al 2008, ed ha anche corso per KTM USA nel 2009 e 2010.

Dodicesimo in classifica finale MXGP 2014, con solo dieci GP disputati, a causa di un infortunio incorso durante la prima manche del GP di Thailandia, Tommy Searle, fresco vincitore della categoria MX2 nel Motocross delle Nazioni corso a Kegums, è particolarmente entusiasta del ritorno in KTM: ‘Non sono molto soddisfatto delle mie due ultime stagioni in MX1-MXGP, anche se nel 2013, all’esordio, ho concluso il mondiale in sesta posizione. Quest’anno l’infortunio in Thailandia ha condizionato tutto il campionato, perché al rientro non ero a posto con il braccio e il polso sinistro, e spesso sono sceso in pista anche se non al 100%. Per questo la prossima stagione è per me molto importante, sono convinto di poter lottare per traguardi ambiziosi e tornare in KTM, nella squadra ufficiale, è il massimo cui potessi aspirare. Trovarmi al fianco di Cairoli e De Dycker sarà uno stimolo in più, sono certo che faremo un bel gruppo… non vedo l’ora di salire in sella, iniziare i primi test!’

Cairoli, De Dycker e Searle potranno scegliere, per gareggiare nella categoria MXGP, tra la KTM SXF 350 e la KTM SXF 450, differenti soprattutto per la cilindrata (350cc. la prima e 450cc. la seconda), e potranno decidere quale utilizzare per la stagione 2015 dopo alcune sessioni di test comparativi.
Searle si è sottoposto il giorno 1 Ottobre ad un piccolo intervento chirurgico, per rimuovere la placca di sintesi che era stata inserita nel polso sinistro in seguito alla caduta nel GP di Thailandia, e prima di risalire in moto dovrà rispettare uno stop di circa venti giorni.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will go into the 2015 World Championship racing season with another strong lineup and with the intention of once again challenging for both the MXGP and MX2 world titles.

The factory team that has dominated the competition in recent years will field eight-times World Champion Antonio Cairoli of Italy, Ken de Dycker of Belgium and Britain’s Tommy Searle in MXGP. Cairoli, one of the most successful riders in FIM World Championship competition will continue his bid for another title. Teammate Ken de Dycker will return to the competition after a 2014 plagued with injuries but Ken will be ready to race for the 2015 season. Newcomer to the MXGP lineup but no stranger to the KTM factory team is Tommy Searle of the UK. Searle finished second in MX2 in 2008 riding a KTM 250 SX-F.

Herlings out to capture third MX2 title in 2015
Jeffrey Herlings of the Netherlands was the stand out rider in 2014, winning 12 of the first 13 GPs but then broke his leg. The Dutch rider showed enormous courage to return in the final round in Mexico in an attempt to win his third consecutive title and returns in 2015 with this goal firmly on his radar screen.

Continuing KTM’s policy of nurturing the most promising young talents, Herlings will be in the MX2 factory team with Pauls Jonass, 17, of Latvia. He won the FIM 85cc Junior World Title in 2011 and captured the Junior Motocross World Championship title in 125cc. In 2014 he rode for Italy’s Marchetti Racing KTM. Herlings and Jonass will be riding the KTM 250 SX-F.

KTM has also signed young Dutch teenager Davy Pootjes to compete in the European Championship. He will also compete in selected MX2 GPs next season.
