Ken De Dycker ha subito un intervento chirurgico per rimuovere una piastra che era stata inserita nel polso sinistro, a seguito di un incidente sulla pista di Lommel il 21 dicembre.
De Dycker aveva ricevuto conferma durante i controlli medici recenti che la piastra, situata nei pressi di alcune terminazioni nervose, limitavano la sua capacità di guidare nel migliore dei modi, soprattutto su superfici dure, dove le vibrazioni e micro scosse che prodotte, causavano fastidi e diventava infiammato.
Il pilota belga è compagno di Antonio Cairoli nel Campionato del Mondo MXGP per il team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing sotto la direzione di Claudio de Carli.
Ken, in sella alla sua KTM 450 SX-F, è tornato sul podio in occasione dell’ultimo GP di Lommel dietro il suo compagno di squadra Cairoli, dando alla Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team una splendida doppietta nella classe MXGP.
Dr. Toon Claes ha operato Ken Venerdì scorso a Herentals (Belgio). L’intervento è stato un successo completo. I punti di Ken verranno rimossi in una settimana e si avrà un ulteriore controllo medico tra quattro settimane.
La stagione 2014 di DeDycker è ora considerata chiusa per lui, non ci sarà nelle ultime due gare del Mondiale MXGP. L’obiettivo per il campione belga è quello di tornare al 100% nella salute e in condizione ottima per la prossima stagione. Egli inizierà la riabilitazione presso il Red Bull Diagnostic & Training Center in Thalgau, Austria a fine agosto.

Ken De Dycker has undergone surgery to remove a plate that had been inserted in his left wrist, following an accident on the track at Lommel on December 21.
De Dycker had received confirmation during recent medical checks that the plate, located near some nerve endings, restricted his ability to ride in the best way, especially on hard surfaces, where the vibrations and micro jolts it produced caused the joint to become inflamed.
The Belgian rider and Italy’s Antonio Cairoli together contest the MXGP World Championship for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team under the management of Claudio de Carli.
Ken, riding his KTM 450 SX-F, was back on the podium at the last GP of Lommel behind his teammate Cairoli, giving the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team a splendid double in the MXGP class.
Dr. Toon Claes operated on Ken last Friday in Herentals (Belgium). The surgery was a complete success. Ken’s stitches will be removed in a week’s time and he will have a further medical check-up in four weeks.
De Dycker’s 2014 season is now considered over and he will not compete in the final two rounds of the World MXGP. The goal for the Belgian champion is to return to 100% health and condition for next season. He will begin rehabilitation at the Red Bull Diagnostic & Training Center in Thalgau, Austria in late August.
