Herlings MX2 nel 2015 – Official
KTM Racing, dopo le consultazioni con il loro pilota ufficiale Jeffrey Herlings ha annunciato che il pilota olandese rimarrà come parte del Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team e continua per il Campionato del Mondo MX2 nel 2015.
Herlings, è il Campione del Mondo MX2 nel 2012 e 2013, si sta dirigendo verso il suo terzo titolo mondiale nel 2014 ad oggi ha vinto dieci dei 11 round della serie attuale. Non ha gareggiato in Brasile a causa di un infortunio alla spalla. Ha anche vinto 20 delle 22 manche in cui ha partecipato, finendo secondo nelle restanti due.
L’adolescente olandese sponsorizzato da Red Bull è ancora un 19 enne e Pit Beirer, capo di KTM Motorsports, ha detto che la decisione è stata presa sulla base del fatto che Herlings è ancora considerato troppo giovane per passare alla classe MXGP. Herlings compete sulla SX-F KTM 250.
“Dopo consultazioni con Jeffrey abbiamo deciso che è bene per lui di rimanere in MX2 per un’altra stagione, soprattutto perché è ancora molto giovane. Ha anche la possibilità di rompere un sacco di record nel nostro sport “, ha detto Beirer. Ha aggiunto che Jeffrey sta guardando un potenziale aggiuntivo di carriera agonistica per i prossimi 10 anni nei ranghi alti, quindi ha senso per lui trascorrere un altro anno in MX2.
Herlings parteciperà alla gara di Unadilla nel mese di agosto per l’AMA Pro Motocross Americana!
Beirer ha anche annunciato che KTM manda Herlings per correre un unico round del Pro MX e inizierà nella classe Lites a Unadilla il 9 agosto 2014 a New Berlin, New York. Ha detto che sarebbe stata una buona opportunità per Herlings correre in un nuovo ambiente fresco e anche tenerlo in modalità gara durante la pausa nel calendario del campionato del mondo.
“Jeffrey sta avendo un grande anno, ma è importante tenerlo motivato. Mandarlo a correre ad Unadilla si sposa perfettamente con la pausa estiva nella stagione del campionato del mondo. Roger DeCoster e la Red Bull KTM Factory Team sono in attesa di avere Jeffrey a competere in questa gara una tantum e sarà molto piacevole per lui “, ha detto Beirer.

KTM Racing, after consultations with their factory rider Jeffrey Herlings announce that the Dutch rider will remain as part of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team and continue to contest the MX2 World Championship in 2015.
Herlings, the MX2 World Champion in 2012 and 2013, is heading for his third world title in 2014. To date he has won ten of the 11 rounds in the current series – he did not compete in Brazil because of a shoulder injury. He has also won 20 of 22 motos in which he started, finishing second in the remaining two.
The Red Bull-sponsored Dutch teenager is still only 19 and Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsports, said the decision was made based on the fact that Herlings is still considered very young to move up to the MXGP class. Herlings competes on the KTM 250 SX-F machine.
“After consultations with Jeffrey we have decided that it is good for him to remain in MX2 for another season, primarily because he is still very young. He also has the opportunity to break a lot of records in our sport,” Beirer said. He added that Jeffrey is looking at a potential additional 10-year racing career in the senior ranks so it made sense for him to spend one more year in MX2.
Herlings to race at Unadilla in August
Beirer also announced that KTM was sending Herlings to race one single round of the US Pro MX and he will start in the Lites class at Unadilla on August 9, 2014 in New Berlin, New York. He said it would be a good opportunity for Herlings to race in a fresh new environment and will also keep him in racing mode during a gap in the world championship calendar.
“Jeffrey is having a great year, but it’s important to keep him motivated. Sending him to race in Unadilla fits perfectly with the summer break in the world championship season. Roger DeCoster and the Red Bull KTM Factory Team are looking forward to having Jeffrey compete in this one-off race and it will be very good experience for him,” Beirer said.
